I started learning to cook as soon as I could walk. Between my mom and my two grandmas, I learned how to make all sorts of baked goods: bread, cakes, pies, you name it. Now I make just about everything, but sweets are still my favorite.
My favorite things to cook
Homemade bread, pies, cookies, cakes, macaroni and cheese, crockpot meals, delicious steaks, my own "original" soups and glazes
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our best tradition is that everything should be homemade! There's no replacing the love and quality that goes into a really lovely meal.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I brined a turkey for Thanksgiving and it was perfect!
And all of my various cooking ribbons from entering baked goods in the town festival contest (against all of the awesome grannies and mamas and their fabulous stuff).
My cooking tragedies
One summer I had a ton of tomatoes from my garden, along with onions and everything else needed for salsa. I made a huge batch and was so excited to dig in. I had a few chips with it and thought it was kinda spicy, but didn't have time to eat much. I took the batch over to my mom's and everyone made awful faces after eating it. It was then I realized that instead of five cloves of garlic, I used five BULBS! Talk about a cooking tragedy! haha. I still can't eat salsa.
