I cooked my way through school starting when I was 16 in a Mexican restaurant and then eventually became the kitchen manager of an Applebee's. Since then I have become a teacher and simply enjoy cooking for my family and friends now.
My favorite things to cook
Homemade maccaroni and cheese, pico de gallo, Pearl's Delight, shepard's pie, etc....
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas baking and "recipe in a jar" gifts! Bring on the rum balls!
My cooking triumphs
My husband's favourite raspberry pie - I think it's partially why he married me :) And the kids love my lemon chicken served with mashed cauliflower.
My cooking tragedies
BBQing ribs wrapped in 2 layers of foil with a layer of wet newspaper and adding Dr.Pepper to cook in. I have heard wonderful things about using a good rub and cooking ribs in Dr.Pepper but I seen to burn them or have them cooked well below the 3 hour time I was told to use. I tried doing from memory as seen on tv but apparently I desperately need a recipe!
