Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2004
This was my first time to make candy. The flavor of this toffe was wonderful. It didnt turn out very hard though (not a problem in my opinion, I kind of liked it a bit softer) but this was my fault as I dont think I cooked the butter and sugar long enough. Thanks for the recipe!!

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2004
This my first attempt at cut-out cookies and I found the dough easy to work with. I put it in the freezer for a couple hours and then moved it to the fridge. The taste of the cookie was average but I will probably make again.

Moussaka

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2004
My husband and I do not like eating Moussaka in our favorite Greek resturant, but we both enjoyed this dish. Next time I will try using less oil with the eggplant as the dish came out a little greasy. It still tasted great however, and all of it was gone within a couple days.

Sour Cream Apple Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2004
This was my first attempt at making a pie, and it turned out great!! One of the best Apple pies I've tasted and my husband agreed. I changed a few things. I increased the sugar to 1 C. and used half brown sugar and half white. I also excluded the nutmeg and added 1 1/2 tblsp of cinnamon instead. I also coated the apple with about 1/4 c white sugar and 2 teas. of cinnamon before mixing them in the sour cream mixture. For the topping I double the amount of butter called for. Next time I will try adding a little allspice and cloves. Will make this again often!!

Pumpkin Apple Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2004
I tried these twice, both times they turned out horrible. Maybe its just my baking skills. I just found them dense and not very sweet. I wont be trying these a third time.

Ali's Amazing Bruschetta

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2004
This was pretty good Bruschetta. Next time I will brush each piece of bread with olive oil as the it seemed kind of dry. The flavor of the herbs and veggies was great however. Thanks for the recipe Alison!

Cheesy Onion Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2004
These were awesome. I took them to an office party and had quite a few people ask for the recipe. The only changes I made: added about 1/4 c. sun-dried tomatoes and omitted the lime juice as I was out. Will make again!

Stuffed Peppers My Way

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2004
These were the best stuffed peppers I've every had. The feta really added something to them. I used tomato basil feta and used red instead of green peppers. My husband is a real meat and potatoes guy so I had to add ground beef to the stuffing. They turned out absolutely fabulous. I served this to an unexpected dinner guest as well and she too said they were the best stuffed peppers she tasted. Thanks for the recipe Sandy!

Double Chocolate Mocha Trifle

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2004
This is a beautiful desert that will impress with its looks and taste. I didnt have two packages of chocolate pudding mix so I used one and one cheesecake flavored mix. You couldnt really tell, it still turned out great. Next time I will make my brownies "cake-y" instead of fudgey, but that's just personal preference. This recipe is even better the next day!!!

Classic Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2004
Wow! These were the best bran muffins I've had. I didnt have buttermilk, so like others I used 2% and a splash of lemon juice. I also had a zuchinni in the fridge, so I grated it and through it in the mix. Thanks for the recipe Janet, I'll be making these for many mornings to come.

Goulash Supreme

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2004
This was good for such a quick and simple recipe. I added a little bit of cumin, extra chili powder, and garlic clove. I used whole wheat macaroni noodles. I cooked the pasta by itself after reading other reviews. I used one small can of stewed tomatoes and a small can of rotel tomatoes for added kick. I eliminated the tomato paste and used a small can of tomato sauce instead. Will make again as it's a great weeknight meal.

Apple Dumpling Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2004
I was so excited to make this cake after all the great reviews, but it just didnt live up to my expectations. The cake part was good but the apples needed some cinammon and sugar on them. I think I'm a bigger fan of the traditional cake where you put the apples in the batter. I cut the oil to 3/4c. This recipe didnt taste bad, it just wasnt anything great.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2004
Everyone in my family loved these brownies but made a suggestion for next time. They thought nuts would make them even better. These were very fudgey and chewy, so if this is the type of brownie you prefer ( I like cake-y myself) you will enjoy these! Great recipe!

Brisket with BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2004
This is the best brisket I've ever made, and everyone that came to dinner commented on how good it was. The only change I made was decreasing the cooking time. I cook the meat 4 hrs then another 1.5 with the sauce. This recipe is a keeper. Thanks Cathy!

Rainbow Pasta Salad II

I loved this recipe!! I added a small can of black olives and a chopped green pepper. I also put in creamy italian dressing, this being so rich I only needed about 1/3 of the bottle. Will be making this often as it is a great summer side dish!

Beef and Bean Chimichangas

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2004
I was nervous about making this one, especially since my husband is very picky about Mexican food but, these turned out great. I think I liked them better baked than fried. It's a great meal to make when your crunched for time too!

Tangy BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2004
LOVED these ribs. It was rainy outside so the only change I made was browning them in a skillet on both sides instead of grilling first. Everyone enjoyed them. I'll be making these again very soon.
