Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2006
We tried this recipe for Easter dinner. I'm so glad we did!! Everyone loved it, including my two year old, who ate all the leftovers. I will cut the butter in half next time, but other than that it was wonderful! I will make this everytime asparagus goes on sale!1

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2006
This was pretty good. I used whole wheat tortillas, and fat free refried beans. Like others suggested I spread the beans on the tortilla instead of mixing it with the meat. I also used more cheese than call for. Will probably make again, as it is simple but I didnt fall in love with this one.

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2006
This was one of the best soups I've ever had!!! The only change I made was putting the whole 2lb block of cheese instead of 1/2. Next time I might try adding another bag of broccoli. It was a big hit, everyone ate it up!!! Will make again!

Green Beans for a Special Occasion

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2006
These were awesome, and so simple to make. I used frozen green beans, two garlic cloves and slivered almonds instead of pine nuts. My husband who hates green beans tried them, and said he loved it and wanted me to make them again!!! Thanks for the great recipe

Blueberry Dump Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2005
This was pretty good. I used blueberry pie filling as blueberries were not in season. There was not enough pie filling to use the 9x13 so I used a slightly smaller pan and about 3/4 of the cake mix. I used a little over a stick of butter and cut it up to cover the top of the cake mix... didnt experiecne any dry spots. Baked for about 45-50 min. It was sooo easy and tasted great with ice cream. It's a great desert if you have unexpected guests or you've spent all you energy on dinner and dont feel like putting alot into your desert.

Adrienne's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2005
I really liked this recipe. I cant wait to try it in the summer when cucumbers are actually in season. I did not add the dill and cut the sugar down quite a bit. I also used a red onion instead of white. Will make again!!!

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2005
Very good. I served with a cucumber salad from this site and saffron rice. My whole family really enjoyed it. One tip however... I would wait and add the cheese until the last 10-15 minutes of cooking, if not I found both times I made this the cheese melted off the chicken and kind of burnt. I also waited and sprinkled the green onions before serving.

Broccoli and Ramen Noodle Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2005
I love this salad. I chopped some broccoli and added to it, used almonds in place of the peanuts. I also made up a little more dressing than was called for. The only thing I didnt like about the recipe was the fact that there was no mention of cooking the noodles. I guess it just depends on your taste. I did not want mine crunchy, so it took a full 12 hours in the fridge to get them soft. It actually tasted better the next day anyway, so it was worth the wait. Next time I'll know that if I want the salad the same day, to cook the noodles first. Thanks for a great salad!!!

Quick Crescent Taco Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2005
This was a tasty and quick recipe. I had concerns about a soggy crust but it turned out flaky and not soggy at all. I used nacho cheese doritos instead of corn chips. Next time I'll try reduced fat crescent rolls.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2005
These were some of the best cookies I've ever made. I absolutely loved them. I used vanilla instead of almond extract, and left off the glaze. I also used red plum instead of raspberry jam. My 18 month old even helped out with the thumbprinting. Be sure and make these small as other suggested as they do get much bigger.

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2005
The best chicken noodle soup I've ever had. I used homemade broth and one can of canned chicken broth. I added salt to taste, after reading other reviews. I also decided not to use 12 cups of broth. I used about 10 and no corn starch was needed. I cooked the noodles in the soup, and used left over Thanksgiving turkey for the meat. I also added carrots and increased cook time to 1 1/2 hrs. Thanks for the recipe Carrie!!!

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
This had a good taste but mine never formed a ball. I even put it in the freezer and it still didnt get as firm as I would have liked. I ended up not serving it to guests as it didnt look pretty.. maybe it would be better as a dip like others suggested.

Hot Bean Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2005
This was an awesome dip!!! Everyone loved it. I didnt add the green onions or hot sauce as kids would be eating it. It still turned out great, I even had guests ask for the recipe. I used reduced fat cream cheese, sour cream, and no fat beans. I also added another 8 oz of shredded cheese. Will definately be making agian.

African Chicken Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2005
Wow, it seems like you either love or hate this one. I'm on the fence however. I put everyting in a crockpot and replaced the potatoes with sweet potatoes. It didnt turn out looking as good as the picture and just from the looks of it my husband wouldnt even taste it. So, he didnt have dinner that night and I had to throw the left overs out. It's a very filling meal served with french bread or rice, and the flavor is pretty good. I just didnt think it was five starts good

Calico Squash Casserole

Sorry, I just didnt think this was good at all. And the leftovers were even worse. I followed the recipe exactly and didnt think it had much flavor. I'll keep looking for a squash casserole recipe.
