Thai-Style Peanut Sauce with Honey

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2011
YUM! Was a bit worried when combining the ingredients at the proportion of everything but wow perfect perfect. I just added extra ginger and garlic. Delish! Sauteed shrimp in sesame oil with red pepper flakes and chopped onion, stir fried with rice noodles, some of this sauce and a little bit of water for a perfect pasta dish. Wasnt expecting much really out of this sauce but what a great zing! Doesnt just taste like boring peanut butter!!

Pork Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2011
Yum! Took a bit of practice but... definitely a winner. After a few tries/youtube videos I made the following changes. 1. dont use square.. makes too much extra dough, was gross. I took stacks of the goza wrappers cut off the corners to make rough circles, and then would make pleats on one side- more filling fit in, and better filling to dough ratio. 2. I boiled the first batch, not worth it. Spread sesame oil lightly on a pan over med heat, placed a batch of dumplings in the pan and then pour a scant cup of noiling water over them to cover them half way. cover the pan and steam the dumplings until the water is evaporated (about five or six min). Whena ll the water is gone, drip a little sesame oil in between the rows of dumplings to crisp up the edges and remove from pan after a minute or two when the bottoms are browned and crispy. PERFECT! I used spinach instead of cabbage, and doubled the ginger and used six cloves of garlic. Sauce was a few tbs of soy sauce plus rice vinegar plus a tiny bit of sesame oil. SO good. Just took a while....

Mark's English Sausage Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
omitted the mustard, used italian seasoned sausage meat, just like my granny makes in South Africa. Served them for the royal wedding at 3am and they disappeared before I had time to move them from the pan to a serving dish! Such a treat.

Naan

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
Would've been five stars, but cooking on grill was a bit tricky to make the dough lie flat... quite a process actually. Delicious though, a big hit! Will make again but when I cook it on the grill will try doing it in bigger pieces instead of the small pancake size servings of naan. Seems it would be easier to make bigger and then tear as you eat it. Loved it though, especially with the garlic, but would recommend using more than suggested, or mixing garlic with the melted butter and then brushing that mixture on. So excited to find a recipe to make naan at home!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
My boyfriend hates all sweets except oatmeal raisin cookies, which he is extremely particular about. These cookies (this recipe makes a LOT) disappeared SO quickly... couldn't believe it! They smelled like heaven and tasted even better. Definitely a keeper.

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
DELICIOUS!!! I made this in my tiny apt kitchen at college for my three guy neighbors and it was a huge hit. As an avid fan of indian food I've tried many recipes but I did like this one the best. I didn't have peanut oil so i used vegetable oil with a little bit of peanut butter. Doubled the onion, used an extra TBS of butter and of lemon juice, double the rest of the spices except for chili powder and cayenne, and added coriander per other reviewers. Used a bit extra yogurt as well, and ground up cashews and water instead of cornstarch, then threw in some extra cashews for good measure. Made my own garlic/ginger "paste" which ended up more as diced garlic and ginger.... And used about 1.5 lbs of chicken breast instead. SO YUMMY. My kitchen still smells delicious the next morning, wish I had made more for leftovers but everyone gobbled it up!! Needed a bit more salt despite what some others said, but otherwise have no complaints. Next time will double the cayenne and chili powder as well for more kick. Served with rice, but next time will make sure to make my homemade naan which didnt have time for last night. Give this recipe a try!
