Plain Eggless Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2010
My daughter loves cake, but is allergic to eggs. We tried several recipes, but this one is by far the best. You can serve this to anyone and they cannot tell there are no eggs. I have also used this to make cupcakes (we send half to the school cafeteria to keep in their freezer and the other half we keep for her to bring to birthday parties). The cupcakes burn on the bottom when I use butter and they are little greasy, so I substitute oil for the butter and cut the amount in half. My daughter can how have her cake and eat it too.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
This recipe is delicious. It was just like the sandwiches I used to get from a grocery store deli in South Louisiana. The store has long been gone, but my craving for their roast beef sandwiches has never died and no where have I ever had a sandwich that compared, until this one. The only change I made was using regular onion powder and additional salt (because I did not have onion salt in my cabinet). This was a hit for the whole family. Thank you for this recipe. I know I will be making this over and over again.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2006
My 5 year old son declared me the best cook in the world; my 3 year old daughter who normally doesn't eat meat (other than chicken nuggets) ate a whole sandwich; and my husband loved them also. Thanks so much for this recipe. I am sure I will be making this often.

Grandma's Eggless, Butterless, Milkless Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2005
A cake the whole family can eat. My daughter has several food allergies including eggs and my sister-in-law is allergic to milk. The cake take care of both of them. I added the salt and brown sugar suggested in other reviews and baked this cake in 2-9 inch round pans. I didn't have any trouble with the edges burning, but I use magic cake strips on my pans which are designed to bake cakes evenly. This cake came out flat as can be with the strips. I filled it with cherry pie filling. My daughter and my sister-in-law both thought it was great. Everyone else in the family seemed satisfied with it also.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2004
I have used this recipe for years and have had many people complement them. One thing I do after making the dough is flatten it into a wax paper lined flat pan before chilling. I cut a strip off the dough and rolling out while leaving the rest I the fridge. It rolls much easier since it is already flat. When the scrape dough gets too soft I put it in the freezer to child and cut another stripe. I also add 1 teaspoon of pure almond extract to the dough. These are perfect for frosted cookies.

Ship Island Shrimp Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2004
Very easy and had a lot of flavor. I made this for my son's birthday party and everyone loved it. Living in South Louisiana, I was able to buy fresh boiled shrimped at the store. The spices from the shrimp and the Italian dressing mix worked so good together. I plan on making this for another party this weekend.

Bacon Quiche Tarts

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2004
Very good and easy to make. I made these for a play group brunch and everyone loved them, including the kids. I didn't want to cook bacon, so I bought real bacon bits. They worked just fine. I will make this again.

Big Pot Sauce

Reviewed: May 12, 2004
This was okay. My dad really liked it and my mom thought it was good. My husband said it would have been better with a lot less oregano. I only made about a third of the recipe. My 1 year old ate a little of the sauce, my 3 year old tasted it and decided he just wanted noodles and butter.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: May 12, 2004
I made these for a party we were having and they were the first thing to go. I thought I was making more than enough, but I could have made twice as many. Everyone loved them and they were very easy. The only thing I am going to do different next time is put them in a tray with a rack so they aren't sitting in the grease while they cook.

Florentine Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: May 12, 2004
Made this for my daughter's citizenship party and it was wonderful. I added 6 oz. of crab meat, a little crushed red pepper, a sprinkle (or 2) of cayenne pepper, and about 6 oz. of shredded Italian cheese (bag of mixed cheeses). I put half the mixture in the baking dish, then a layer of half the Italian cheese, then the rest of the mixture and topped with the rest of the Itailian cheese. I served it on homemade melba toast. It was the best spinach dip I have every tasted.

Crab and Mushroom Strata

Reviewed: May 2, 2004
I think this would have been great if my oven would not have been acting up. The flavor was very good, but the heating element went out on my oven during baking and it would have needed to cook a little longer to get solid. I will try this again when my oven is working right.

White Bean Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2004
This was very good. I wasn't sure if I wanted to try this recipe since I was afraid it would taste like navy beans with salsa. That was not the case at all. The soup was very good and the white beans just made the soup creamy. My husband loved it and so did my kids. I will make this again.

There were very good. I am planning to make them for a party in a couple of weeks. The only thing I will do differently is add a little lemon zest.

These were better than I thought they would be. I made them for my parents, who loved them. I thought they were good, but my husband the kids didn't really like them, so I probably won't make them again.
