I've been married to a wonderful man for 35 years. I love all animals and I love making greeting cards. I am disabled, so my baking and cooking routines have really reduced down to how I'm feeling. My hubby is becoming a better cook than I am! Thank Goodness...because I love to eat!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake anything at all. I like making Italian food, casseroles, salads, veggie recipes and soups and stews. As I age, my craving for meat has really become minimal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm half French and half Italian so I have made everything from pea soup to ravioli. My Great Uncle's spaghetti sauce recipe is the world's best, but many years ago...I swore only to give it out to family members. I have kept that promise even after my Great Uncle passed away several years ago. I tend to cook in huge amounts even though there are only two of us at home. Salads with oil and vinegar dressings were an everyday part of our meals when I was younger, and I still enjoy them today with all sorts of concoctions.
My cooking triumphs
Some of my best recipes are from family members, and other recipes I have invented myself. I love the taste of butter in a lot of things, so this makes for some high calorie meals...but very yummy!
My cooking tragedies
I am not very skilled when it comes to piddly things like cake decorating or fancy garnishes. I think food should look appitizing, but the taste and quality of the product is #1 for me. I also have problems making a really good gravy....but when I do....we are shocked that there are no lumps!
