Mama's Potato Salad

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
I finally found a potato salad that I could make that was delicious. I made 5lbs yesterday for memorial day just for my family, and it was gone the same day, even my husband liked it. I will use this recipe everytime, the only thing I did different was add celery, and I didn't have any horseradish, but I will try it with that next time.

Taco Salad I

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
I gave it three stars, because while it tasted good, I was not crazy about a warm taco salad, I think I just prefer mine cold. Adding the dressing the the meat while it cooked and then pouring it over the salad, just seemed to make it a bit too mushy, I don't think my family was crazy about the appearence of the salad. I wouldn't mind trying it all seperate though like others suggested.

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2003
I think I have to give this only 4 stars, because I wanted to make a peach pie, and I doubled the recipe for a 2 crust pie, and it just didn't turn out, it was very crumbly and I couldn't pick up the crust without it breaking apart. The reason for the higher rating though is I remade the crust just using the exact ingredient amount it calls for, for the one pie crust and it rolled out much better. Does anyone know what I did wrong, why was it so crumbly? Also how did you make the recipe for a 2 crust pie? I love flaky crusts and will more then likely give this recipe another try. Dottie

Peach Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2003
This is the first time I made hommade peach pie, and I loved it. I followed the recipe exactly and it came out great, I love the peachy flavor, I did follow advice and left it in the oven a bit after shutting it off, and it was perfect. Not too runny at all, and I used fresh peaches. The lattice top also looked very nice. Dottie

Texas Coleslaw

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2003
This is a great coleslaw recipe! I don't like restraunt style coleslaw, because it is too sweet. That is one reason why I tried this, because it didn't call for sugar. I also used a slight bit less cayenne pepper that was called for so the kids could eat it and it wasn't too hot at all, I wouldn't mind trying it with all the cayenne sometime. Also I forgot to buy the limes and used a tablespoon of white wine vinegar, it was still very good, I will definately make this recipe again.

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2002
I definately recommend this one, I have made egg casseroles in the past, and they were pretty good, but I loved this one, and everyone said they loved it too, I will defianately make it again, I only used the 4 eggs it called for and it came out great, but I will try the suggestions of others next time and use 6. I also used the maple sausage, When I told my husband I was making egg casserole for christmas breakfast, he said don't take this the wrong way, but I dont' really care for that, well after he tried a bit, he got more and said this is actually good. Delicious!!

Aunt Millie's Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2002
As my brother said this was Kickin. I made this for Christmas dinner, and everyone had a good comment on it. I did add the half a cup of milk, and I didn't have american cheese, so I used sharp cheddar, it was great. I will make this a tradition and make it every year.

Cut-Out Cookies Made with Oat Flour

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2002
This was a very easy recipe, and the dough rolled out great, just allow the dough to warm up some after taking it out of the refrigerator, I found it easier to roll the warmer it was, and they were also tasty, Just watch, because I didn't keep my eye on them the first batch and they browned a little to fast, so I watched the rest and they came out perfect, everyones ovens are different.
