About this Cook
I love trying new recipes and tweeking them to my taste.
My favorite things to cook
Corn bread dressing/stuffing Stuffed Pork Chops Smoked BBQ Ribs Fried Chicken Pound Cakes Cookiea (All)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Most of the ladies get together on Thanksgiving Eve to do the cooking for the next day. We alternate homes for each year. Sometimes we have large kitchens and sometimes small but we get in where we fit in. I always make the corn bread dressing and candied yams.
My cooking triumphs
One day while at work, had a taste for Thanksgiving dinner with all of the trimmings. Went home that night made the entire meal and was eating at 11 p.m.
My cooking tragedies
Lasagna- first time making it and decided to use a famous chef's recipe. I ended up with way too much pasta and meat sauce. The proportions were off but I didn't realize it since it was my first time making homemade lasaga. If I had read the reviews, would have known about the errors in the recipe. It was a disaster since I was trying to make everything fit in the pan. Won't try making it ever again!

Corn Fritters
These turned out very well, very crispy. I dumped a 15 1/2 ounce of corn into the batter before realizing it was too much. Added a little bit more flour, shortening, salt & sugar to make up for the added corn. I believe if you follow the recipe exactly, you will get great results. Also sprinkled in a tablespoon of red pepper flakes. Would have added jalapeno if had them. You can use this as a basic recipe for any deep friend food.
