About this Cook
Hi! I’m a 21 yr old college student who can't decide on a major. Some days it’s BioChem, others its Feminist studies; meanwhile I toy with the ambition of becoming a doctor. It's a challenge. Currently I live with my mom, however I hope to move back to my hometown in about a year and transfer to a school there. I love Texas, but detest our governor. I'm a Democrat however I do think Republicans can come up with some good ideas. My hobbies include knitting, cooking, reading, walking, swimming, exploring the great outdoors (and I don't mean my back yard, but the state and national parks) but woe betides me if I forget the bug repellent! I like to travel, however I have never been outside my state, or really even further west than hill country. I can't wait for the day where I have saved enough money to really explore, maybe I'll spend a year backpacking before I start Grad School, because yes, there will be Grad School. Of course joining the Peace Corps is always a possibility...
My favorite things to cook
Crab Cakes Roast Lemon Chicken Goat Cheese Salad (really just goat cheese...) Way Too Rich Hot Fudge Upside Down Cake Turkey Burgers Cocktails (or any alcohol, period. What? I'm in college!) Garlic Bread Picadillo Stuffed Bell Peppers Lemon Ice Box Pie (mine is total awesomeness) Chocolate Glazed Chocolate Tart Hot Artichoke Spinach Dip (Olive Garden Style) Cherry Cream Pie Christmas Waffles Chicken Piccata Pork Piccata Skillet Lemon Souffle Aligot Pizza Bianca Chicken and Dumplings (my favorite!) Lemon and Herb Roasted New Potatoes Greek Flank Steak Chocolate Mousse
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cherry Cream Pie Stuffed Bell Peppers Picadillo Christmas Waffles
My cooking triumphs
Ginger Cardamom Oeufs A La Neige That sucker was hard! Not my favorite recipe, but I liked the challange. Skillet Lemon Souffle Again, another difficult recipe however the results were worth it.
My cooking tragedies
Molasses Beef Stew So sue me, I was 9. And I ate it all just to tick off my sister. She seemed personally offended by my effort.

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast
I followed the recipe exactly and was a bit disappointed. I had high hopes starting out but the end result was rather bland. Don’t get me wrong, the meat was nice and tender, the veggies yummy (a little mushy, but a good mushy), and there was plenty of gravy. However it needed flavor, also searing the meat with salt and pepper didn’t do anything for it. What I would do next time is sear the meat with Worcestershire, olive oil, and a little butter. Then after I put the meat into the crock-pot with veggies on top of the meat. I would deglaze the pan with a mix of either Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon and beef stock. Then I would pour the liquid with pan drippings into the crock-pot. I’m not sure if I would use the onion soup mix or not, I think that would depend on the users personal preference.

Banana Pudding IV
Awsome! The only thing I did was add 2 cups of milk instead of three to give it a nice thick almost custard like texture. Next time I think I will use real whipped cream instead of whipped topping just because I like it better.
