Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
I wish I could give this soup 172 stars! It is amazing, amazing, amazing! I have never made anything like this, but have been having and increasing appetite for curry lately. This did not disappoint! I will make this all the time! I doubled the recipe as others suggested and added extra curry and cayenne as others suggested. I also added a bit extra rice, just because I love rice! This is an awesome soup! Thank you so much for sharing!!!!!

Buckeyes I

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2011
I had a nightmare with these, but it was not the recipes fault! I have never made anything like this before, and never dipped anything in chocolate. I melted mine in the crockpot because it seemed so easy...however, apparently if you get even 1 drop of water in melted chocolate it will "seize" and get really solid and change the texture of the chocolate. So that was my problem. I ended up making it work and even saved the recipe and they turned out pretty good considering the texture of the chocolate is a little funky. They have a great flavor and are super easy to make....just make sure you don't get any water in you melting chocolate! If you haven't done it before you might "google" it for some tips before you do it, what I should have done : ) Will make again and learn from my mistakes!

Homemade Bagels

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2011
These are awesome! Very easy to make, and oh so delicious! I've been making big batches of different varieties and freezing them individually in foil. Then, when I don't have time to cook breakfast I just stick the bagel in the foil in my toaster oven, fry up an egg, throw a little cheese on it, and it makes a super delicious, quick and easy breakfast!

Cinnamon Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
This cake is the most moist cake I've ever had! It was so delicious! It's not overly chocolaty, with such a nice touch of cinnamon! I made a few adjustments based on other reviews; I cut the sugar to 1.5 cups (it was still plenty sweet), used heaping teaspoons for the cinnamon and a heaping fourth cup of cocoa. I used regular milk because I didn't have any buttermilk. It was awesome! I didn't make the icing, but I'm sure it would be delicious too :) I will definitely make this again and again!

Hand Held Hashbrown Casseroles

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2011
These were awesome! Made a few changes just based on personal taste...I left out the sausage completely, used fresh grated potatoes instead frozen hash browns, and used a mix of green pepper, mushrooms, onion and black olive instead of just the green pepper. Mine were done a few minutes early, and they were amazing! My boyfriend said he wanted to eat them everyday for breakfast :) Update...We have become obsessed with these and eat them at least once a week! We use whatever veggies we have on hand, sometimes use ham, sometimes no meat at all. They are fabulous every way! We like them cooked until they are a bit crispy. I even experimented with freezing them for busy mornings. I just wrapped them individually in foil and pop them into the toaster oven when I want to use them....you would think they were baked that morning, they froze beautifully!

Turkey Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2011
Really great soup! I made a few alterations based on personal preference, and because I didn't have a gravy packet. I used turkey broth made from the turkey carcass, and then added in leftover gravy made from the drippings. I also added in garlic, Italian seasoning, and oregano. I used dry egg noodles and boiled them separately. Then I just threw everything together in a big pot and boiled for about 20 minutes or so. It was quite plain until I added in the gravy drippings, it made a huge difference. It was really great and full of flavor!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2011
These were amazing pancakes! They weren't quite as fluffy as I would have liked, but I think this has to do with my cooking ability and not the recipe! I doubled the recipe and it made quite a few pancakes for me! It was a fabulous breakfast and I'll definitely be making these again!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
This dish is AMAZING! I made it for Thanksgiving and it was the best part of the meal for me! It seems like such a simple recipe, but it really comes out just amazing and so full of flavor! The only thing I changed was just to dice the onions instead of leaving them in rings, just personal preference! Thanks for such an amazing recipe!

Ghirardelli® Chocolate Chip Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
This didn't turn out great, but I think a lot of it has to do with me and not the recipe. It's exceptionally sweet. It's so rich it's hard to eat a whole piece. Those first few bites are amazing though!

Easy Turkey Gravy

I thought this gravy was excellent! Was great on mashed potatoes and turkey! I didn't have any poultry seasoning or seasoned salt and it was just fine, still full of flavor!

A Simply Perfect Roast Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
This was my first time cooking a turkey and it turned out fabulous! I didn't use stuffing inside, instead I used garlic, onion, carrots, and celery. It was great! I basted about every 45 minutes and it was very juicy! I also put rosemary and thyme in the pan. I still found the white meat dry, but I've never had white meat turkey that wasn't dry, just the way it is I think! My boyfriend said it was the juiciest turkey he had ever seen! He couldn't get enough of the dark meat! I'm using bones to make turkey stock today! Thanks for making my first Thanksgiving turkey excellent!

Loved this! Didn't change a thing. Used it to top pumpkin pie and cheesecake. Chill your bowl in the fridge before making this and it will make your life easier!

Overnight Cinnamon Rolls I

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
I wish I could give this more than 5 stars! These are the most amazing cinnamon rolls I have ever had!!! I get nervous working with yeast because I don't have the best track record...but these turned out great! The key I think is to make sure you leave them in a really warm space to rise! Regular room temperature just isn't enough. The only things I changed with the recipe was to leave out the raisins and I didn't use the suggested glaze (my own preference - I don't like corn syrup). I used the glaze from the "Savory Cinnamon Rolls" recipe on this site. I cut the glaze in half and it was plenty for these rolls. I can't say thank you enough for posting this recipe! It is amazing!!!!

Spicy Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
This is a good soup! I used slightly more than a pound of beans, only 4 cups broth and it was still more runny than I'd like. It's spicy, but for me, just the right amount. It is good and easy to make!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
Great biscuits! My boyfriend (who doesn't cook much) made these for me when I had a craving. He says the directions and recipe was "precise, clear and wonderful". They were delicious and we'll definitely make them again. We used butter instead of shortening...and (accidentally)used salted butter. I'd recommend using unsalted but ours weren't overly salty by any means.

Oatmeal Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2011
I thought these cookies were very good! I halved everything (didn't need 48 cookies) and add 3 dashes of cinnamon but followed everything else exactly. Mine came out chewy and slightly crispy (not in a bad way!). I think these are a great alternative to run of the mill chocolate chip cookies. I'll definitely make them again!
