About this Cook
Growing up in a family of non-cooks, I taught myself how to cook in college and realized how much I enjoyed it. It's one of my favorite hobbies. I also enjoy being mom to my cat and two dogs and reading.
My favorite things to cook
I love using my slow cooker! There's nothing better than walking in my front door and having my whole house smell incredible!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I enjoy making fried chicken on the weekend together. He fries the chicken with his "secret" batter, and I make the sauces for it.
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving was the first holiday I ever hosted in my home. Living on an Air Force base, my husband and I had a lot of guys at our house for dinner. I planned and cooked the dinner for all 10 people on my own, and everything turned out perfect. It was definitely one of my proudest moments! :)
My cooking tragedies
My husband will never let me forget my chicken florentine casserole disaster! The recipe called for lemon juice, and I accidentally added the juice of a whole lemon. The casserole was absolutely inedible. I learned that a little lemon juice goes a long way!

Sweet and Spicy Stir Fry with Chicken and Broccoli
Loved this! I used fresh broccoli and threw it in with everything else. I also added red bell pepper. To have a thicker sauce, I didn't use chicken stock. The flavor was great!

Almond Cupcake with Salted Caramel Buttercream Frosting
This was delicious! The cake was very moist and flavorful. The icing didn't have as much caramel flavor as I would have liked, so I added some sugar free caramel sauce I have for coffee. Great go to recipe for fancy but easy dessert!
