Bacon Gravy for Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
I really wanted biscuits and gravy for dinner the other night but didn't have the sausage I normally use so I tried this recipe with bacon. I pretty much doubled all ingredients to make enough for my family. I had never made gravy from scratch before this and I found the directions simple and easy to follow. Other than accidentally over salting it a bit, it tasted delicious. I added a couple dashes of steak seasoning. Next time I will use less salt and pepper and more steak seasoning. I will 100% use this recipe over and over again. Reviewers claiming their gravy was "bland" and/or "flavorless": uh, it says season "to taste" ??? Right?!

Restaurant-Quality Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
I made this as my first attempt at soup, I had never made a roux in my life! It turned out AMAZING, my husband and 2 toddler sons devoured it with cheese and bacon biscuits and have been begging me to make it again! I changed a few things a bit: I sauted some minced garlic with the onion; instead of fully baking the potatoes I microwaved them for about 5 minutes; I used leftover prepared mashed potatoes instead of just flakes; and I used Italian seasoning and steak seasoning instead of salt, pepper and the spices called for. Another recipe on this site: pull-apart bacon bread, it compliments this soup so well, I crumble the bread into my soup bowl. Delicious!

Crab Cakes II

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
I made these last night, my 4 year old son loved them! Instead of crackers I used Panko crumbs and I added garlic salt and a little steak seasoning. Like a few other reviewers, I had a hard time keeping some of them together, but it seemed to be because the lumps of meat where too big. I just let them break apart in the oil and cooked them the same; those ones were the perfect bite size for my kids :) I ate mine with cocktail sauce and the boys used ketchup (blech lol, kids and ketchup xD) I will definitely make these again :)

Breakfast Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
Oh I love these, they are a million times better than fast food versions! I make bisquick biscuits or use an English muffin, sometimes I use frozen sausage patties instead of bacon, depending on what I have on hand. I also prefer fried eggs to scrambled, you can fold it up to fit. :)

Cream Cheese Penguins

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
I am so excited I found this! I forgot about these! My mom and I made them for Christmas eve one year, no one wanted to eat them cuz they were too cute! My mom also made an igloo shaped cheese ball to go with them, cutest snack EVER! Like other reviewers, we went with whipped cream cheese, much easier to fill :) I can't wait to make them again for my kids :)

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2012
Love these. I made my own cake and frosting from scratch, and dipped them using a plastic fork with the 2 middle 'teeth' broken off. I let my sons help decorate with sprinkles. Fun and delicious. I'll make them again and again, cant wait to experiment with different flavors/colors/decorations. :)

Fresh Peach Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2012
I've never made a sauce like this before. They only part of the recipe I didn't follow was the nutmeg and almond extract, simply because I didn't have either, or a suitable replacement. All other measurements and directions I followed to a tee. I love the kinda weird consistency and the flavor was AMAZING with buttered sweet biscuits I made to go with it. I can umafine this with all kinds of fruit.

Clam Fritters

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2011
I just tried these, I did not add the onion or bell pepper, I believe that would have made them even better. The liquid made the batter super runny, I added dry bread crumbs, parmesan cheese and panko, still couldn't really make a patty, i just dropped the batter by the spoonful into the oil and flattened them with the spoon. They'd be great with cocktail sauce or tartar sauce. I did not expect my young sons to like them but they are gobbling them up!

Crab Rangoon III

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
This is my favorite appetizer of all time! Like some others noted in their reviews, I baked mine in a mini muffin tin sprayed with cooking spray, then I brushed the tops with egg white.
