Honey Wheat Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2004
this did not go over well with us. next time, i'd probably use half regular/half whole flour, some sugar and/or vanilla and way less oats. also cooking them smelled weird. i did like that they rose well with out egg in the recipe

Grilled Vegetables in Balsamic Tomato Sauce with Couscous

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2003
since i read the other reviews first, i cooked the vegetables shorter which helped keep the flavors, yet there were still "grill lines" - also I used just a few table spoons of flavorful tomato sauce instead of a can of plain tomatoes - that with the balsamic made a nice sauce. this definitely goes well with couscous, which i cooked in water (healthier) and still tasted great.

Rice Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2003
thanks! this is exactly what i was looking for, stuffing with rice instead of bread. served with meat and chicken balls simmered in cranberry sauce, this was delicious.

Summer Squash Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2003
This did make a nice refreshing summer dinner. was looking for a pizza crust that didn't call for yeast. we added tomato sauce, more shredded zuccini, thin sliced yellow bell pepper, and spicy cheese. I made a half recipe since we're just 2 but I'd make the full next time. However, either it's my oven or the recipe doesn't cook evenly, as the dough was burning on the edges and soft in the middle.

Mexican Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2003
this was ok. it looked pretty - also added a little yellow pepper. it was easy and came out good, but with out much of a kick like the prepared ones. i think i would add a little medium or hot salsa in the simmer process next time.

Black and White Cookies I

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2003
these are good - they look and taste like black and whites, but were big and also puffy in the middle. it made about 18-20 the size of baseball. although the 2nd time i tried less cake flour, they were still puffy. maybe i will try to spread as someone mentioned. also i will try to ice the flat side so there is no drips to clean up- that is a good suggestion. company, me and husband loved them...

Depression Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2003
This turned out great the first and third time. Delicious and moist. The second time I didn't wait for the mixture to cool and put too much flour - so becareful not to do this. Works well with or without raisins. Excellent cut in half and layered and covered with vanilla frosting!
