My Favorite Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2013
Wonderful Sloppy Joes! I used fresh garlic but that was the only change I made. My husband's only suggestion was to use more meat next time. We just served it with carrots and ranch dressing.

Rich and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2013
My husband said it's the best tomato soup he's ever had. We had it with grilled cheese sandwiches for a nice Lenten Friday meal.

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2013
Family loved it! My husband doesn't eat beef or pork, so we made it with ground turkey. Served it with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Perfect comfort winter food.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2013
This is a kid favorite in our house! I made it exactly as directed the first time, but since then I leave out the cayenne as it makes it too spicy for the kids. Other than that, perfect! I have made it without leaving it in the fridge overnight too, with great results. I served with roasted potatoes and broccoli as those are favorites in our house too. And we throw all the bones and carcass into the crockpot to make overnight chicken broth!

Braided Spaghetti Bread | Rhodes Bake-N-Serv

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2013
My family loved this. I made Jo's Rosemary Bread dough from this site and baked the spaghetti with sauce and cheese in it. I minced garlic and shredded Parmesan for the topping of the bread. It was a hit with all the boys!

Crockpot Coconut Chicken Curry | carpe season

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
It's kind of bland. I'm leaving it in my recipe box as it's an easy dinner, but it won't be something I make often.

Italian Bread Bowls

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
Made the dough in the breadmaker and then let it sit to rise while the soup cooked. I served Butternut Squash soup IV from this site in it and my pickiest eater loved it. He ate all the soup and then devoured the bread too. It's not a very flavorful dough, but I think that's specifically what it's meant to be. That allows the flavors in the soup to shine through and also allows that any soup can be served in it. I may make again for chili!

Butternut Squash Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
I make this one about once a month in the winter time. We can buy assorted squash "for soup" cut up in the grocery store, so I have made it with all kinds of squash. I always make it according the recipe, but I add bacon bits at the end. I've also served it in Italian bread bowls from this site, which my kids thought was cool.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2013
My 8 year old son's favorite cake is red velvet cake and this is the recipe I use every year for his birthday. This makes wonderful red velvet cupcakes. I use buttercream frosting to frost.

Cream Filled Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2013
Made this for my son's 10th birthday. These are amazing! I made them exactly as the recipe states and they turned out wonderfully! I used a chocolate glaze recipe from this site for the frosting and they taste a lot like Hostess cupcakes. I read a lot of the reviews beforehand about the cake not being the best, but I found it to be very tasty.

Creamy Hot Cocoa

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2012
I made this for my son's December (in Northern Europe) outdoor birthday party. The kids LOVED it! I made it exactly as written (other than increasing the servings to 20) and served it with marshmallows. Would be wonderful with whipped cream too. Perfect for kids coming in from the cold!

Sesame Udon Noodles

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2012
This is very tasty, BUT I would recommend pouring the dressing on to taste. It was very oily as written. It would be great with a variety of vegetables too. I didn't add snap peas as they are very difficult to find where I live.

Halibut with Rice Wine

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2012
This will be added to our monthly menu. All members of the family LOVED it! I didn't have any black bean sauce or black beans, so I left that out, but no substitutions other than that. Served with Sesame Udon noodles and it was a great complement.

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2012
This is really tasty! I used regular whiskey (Glenfiddich) because that's what I had on hand, but it turned out with a wonderful flavor. I also used the cheapest ketchup I could find. I'll make this often and won't be purchasing BBQ sauce again!

Cheater Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2012
Whipped this up when I ran out of Aunt Jemima. Followed the recipe exactly and when cooled, I poured it into an old Aunt Jemima bottle, so that my picky son wouldn't automatically hate it. He didn't even notice! This is one of my new favorites (I'll just have to make sure to always have an empty store bought syrup container available!).

Vintage Lemonade

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2012
Like other reviewers have said, DO NOT stir the rinds, sugar and water. Just let it sit. I would also recommend straining everything. I strained the juice through a fine mesh strainer and after removing the rinds, I strained the sugar water mixture through a fine mesh strainer. My kids LOVE this and ask for it all summer long! Great with vodka too for the adults!

Grilled Peanut Butter Apple Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2012
We had these as after school snacks. ALL my kids ate them, which is a feat in itself. Even the visiting child who initially said no to the sandwich, gave in and had one. Great with milk!

SO amazing and SO easy! My kids requested this to go in their lunches and they usually don't eat soup that doesn't include noodles.
