Chef John's Blueberry Clafoutis

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2015
Delicious! I will definitely be making this again. Here's a point of culinary trivia: Clafoutis is ONLY made with black cherries. If you use any other fruit, including red cherries, it is a "flaugnarde". Loved the prominent vanilla flavor along with the blueberry. So easy to make, even after coming home from work, to have for dinner that night.

Apple Tarte Tatin

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2014
I made this recipe exactly as written (including the suggested pastry) after watching the video. I think that anyone making this for the first time should view the video before beginning - it shows a lot that the recipe can't explain. Everything turned out very well and I was pleased. My rating is based more on personal preference, rather than how successfully it turned out. I gave a "4" because I found the Granny Smith apples a bit tart for my liking and craved a bit of cinnamon to add depth to the flavour. I will definitely make this again (SO easy!) and just change to variety of apple (Gala, maybe?) and add a bit of cinnamon. Thanks, Chef John!

Hungarian Goulash I

Reviewed: May 15, 2014
This is yummy! The only thing is that is a bit salty. Next time I will not add the last teaspoon of salt. It came out a bit soupy, so I just added a cornstarch slurry to thicken things up a bit. We enjoyed ours over pasta because my daughter doesn't like egg noodles. I might try it over spaetzle next time for a different meal.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2014
A yummy blueberry muffin! I used NutriFlour blend to increase the fibre and frozen wild blueberries. I was in a hurry to eat the muffins, so I sprinkled them with Sugar In the Raw instead of making the topping. Yummy! Another time I will try them with the topping. This recipe is family approved.

Portuguese Custard Tarts - Pasteis de Nata

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2013
Tried these from a bakery last week and LOVED them! Thought that I would try them at home and found this recipe. It was just like what I had from the bakery. I rolled out each puff pastry piece to 10x12, rolled them into logs and cut each log into 6 pieces. Rolled each piece to a circular shape to fit into the muffin pan. This worked really well. I will definitely make these again. YUM YUM! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!

Traditional Gyro Meat

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2012
Very yummy! I couldn't find ground lamb, but lamb stew meat worked. I "ground" it up with my food processor after I did the onions. Worked like a charm! I just wish that I could slice it as thinly as they do at the restaurant. My electric knife did a better job once it had cooled, but it still could have been thiner. No other complaints, though. I will definitely make this again!

Eggplant Parmesan II

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2011
Oh, my goodness! This is AWESOME! I've never tried eggplant before and this is a fabulous recipe. The 10 min. cooking time per side is right on. I didn't "sweat" mine, though. My kids said that I could make this recipe anytime - and they are choosy eaters! I used Primo's Tomato Basil spaghetti sauce and it blended well with the basil in the topping. I am definitely making this again!!!
