Sensational Steak Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2014
Delicious as is, but the bread fell apart after toasting, and wasn't the easiest to eat. Next time I'll try something different than a loaf of french bread. The mustard/horseradish sauce is what took this sandwich from 4 to 5 stars.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
This cake it always a hit whenever I bring it somewhere. It's a bit expensive, so I save it for important gatherings. Do not attempt to leave this in your own home, or you will eat it all yourself.

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
This always turns out delicious, but sometimes the cake compresses. Be careful not to roll too tightly in the towel while it's cooling. There's a lot of icing. If you're feeling remotely health-conscious, halve it.

Slow Cooker Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
I considered giving this 4 stars because the taste was slightly off, but it gets bonus points for how incredibly easy it is. Everyone else said the taste was perfect. I'll be making this again.

Pretzel Turtles

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2013
Easy? Cheap? Crowd-pleasing? Embarrassingly delicious? Check. The only problem is that you have left over pretzels in the bag, so you buy more caramels, but then you have too many caramels, so you buy more pretzels...

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2012
Delicious! I just made it almost completely as-is (except no added salt and I used 1% milk instead of cream because that's what I had). I don't think I'd change anything else.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
I will forever be known as the banana bread girl in some circles because of this. I had to take the recommendations from others and modify it a bit, though. I used 4 mashed, frozen bananas, and I don't think it would've been 'Banana Bread' without the addition. I also excluded the walnuts, but that's more a personal preference. A side note: I ended up doubling the recipe and baking in a bundt pan (don't have a 9x5). If you do this, just be prepared to cook it longer (I think it was 1 1/2 hrs...?)

Roasted Garlic and Eggplant Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
Absolutely delicious! I was debating between rating 4 or 5 stars, because I modified the recipe a bit, but I think what's listed here is a great base to which you can add your preference of additional spices/ingredients. First of all, I had so much eggplant from the garden (and no food scale) that I guesstimated doubling the batch would be best. I only used 1 cup of tomato puree (in the double batch) because that's all I had. I took the recommendations from others and added a lot more cayenne (maybe 2-3x) as well as curry and some thyme. I used light cream and I doubt there's a taste difference from the full - great consistency. Turned out wonderful. Definitely recommend. Don't be afraid to add your favorite spices/extra ingredients, though I'm sure it's great by itself.

Lemon Square Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2011
Followed the recipe almost exactly (had to use 2 8x8" pans and rounded up lemon juice to 3/4 c) and turned out delicious. If I were to make these again, I'd probably follow what many other reviewers recommended and double the filling -- but that's more of a personal preference.
