Hot Chocolate Mix II

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
This is a very good hot chocolate mix. I did as others advised and added chocolate pudding mix to mine...I added two boxes to the full recipe. I would also have to say that the appearance was a little on the lumpy side. There was no problem dissolving it, but to make it look "prettier" if you are giving it as a gift, I would send it thru the food processor or blender to get rid of the powdered milk lumps.

Chicken Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
Make this soup today! It is simply the best soup I have had in a long, long time. I made it as per the directions...the only changes I made was: I was out of garlic powder, so I started to use 1/4 tsp garlic salt in place, but then thought that that would not give it quite enough garlic taste, so I added 1/4 tsp minced garlic as well. And I used a whole bullion cube as I did not have the granulated type. Also 1 6oz box of Uncle Ben's Wild Rice will give you amount of rice needed for this recipe. The only changes I will make next time is maybe use more chicken and I will probably cook my chicken first and then cut/tear into smaller pieces (as opposed to cutting and then cooking)....I know this probably will sound crazy, but we prefer the stringier pieces of chicken in soups...just a personal preference.

Beef Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2008
I was very reluctant to make this recipe...I mean, come on now, the combination of creamed corn and tomato soup and sauce?!?! But at my husband's urging I broke down an made this for him. I am glad I did.....it is VERY GOOD!! I will be making this again and again. The only thing I think I will change will be the addition of a can of whole corn. So don't be afraid to give this one a try, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

Baked Potato Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
This dip is so addictive! Everyone just raved about it! I did make the chages some suggested: I added a packet of ranch dressing mix and I used real bacon. Thanks so much for a great recipe.

Candy Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2002
I also added cinnamon and honey to the mixture, but I'm not sure if I added to much or if I did not bake them long enough, but they turned out a little on the tacky side, to combat that problem, I just coated them with a cinnamon/sugar(just regular granulated) mixture and that seemed to solve the problem. I also made this recipe with almonds and walnuts...boy did they disappear fast!!

German Rye Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
This is really great tasting rye bread! It is not an overpowering rye flavor either. It is a little time consuming, but definatlely worth it. I followed the recipe exact and did not change anything and it came out wonderfully. Thanks for a great recipe!

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2007
These are great!! Since I did not have a bread machine, I first dissolved the sugar, yeast with the warm milk and water. I then let it proof for about 10 minutes. I then added the salt, egg and melted butter and gave that a quick mixing. And finally I added the vanilla pudding and bread flour. Mixed and then kneaded until smooth and elastic. I returned the dough to a greased bowl (turned to coat dough) and let it rise for an hour. They came out perfectly!!! Oh....substituted raisins for pecans! Thanks for sharing.

Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
This soup is so easy and quick to make! Mine turned out a little on the salty side...but I think that was because I did not have any chicken broth on had, so I made my own by just throwing together some chicken base and water. I think I made it a little strong. I also mashed one can of the beans like others suggested and added a little cornstarch...we like our soups on the thicker side. Over all good tasting soup for being so easy!

Swedish Meat Pies

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
Ok, so I'm torn as how to rate this recipe....The meat filling tasted great as we were preparing it....the dough on the other hand was very difficult to work with, it kept cracking. And then when you put them together, the end result is kinda blah tasting. Oh, the dough was also kinda on the salty side. Will try this one again because I really like the portability of this meal. Thanks for the recipe. It's a good starting point and very workable (I think).

Mom's Italian Beef Barley Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
This soup is definately easy and it tastes good...BUT if I were to make this again, I would add more spices like garlic, bay leaf, etc...needed a little spicing up and I will also next time add sliced celery and or carrots....I think I'm going to continue my search for Beef Barley Soup.

Hot Spiced Cranberry Cider

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
I made this for an open house and got many compliments. It is very good...something different than the usual plain apple cider. It makes the house smell good too! I forgot to mention that I did strain my finished drink thru a cheesecloth to remove all the excess "debris". I prefered to serve a clearer looking drink rather than have the clumped cinnamon floating around in it.

Rich N Creamy Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
These potatoes are very good. I will be making them again. I did add bacon as suggested by another reviewer. I think that next time I may try leaving the butter out completely...definatley will not add the additional tablespoon to the top. I think to save time there would be no reason to substitute frozen hash brown potatoes...just as a time save.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

I would definately say that these are the best homemade brownies that I have ever made! I followed the recipe exact...not one single change. The top came out crispy and the center is chewy and fudgy.

Bacon Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
This tastes awesome! It is not a traditional chicken and dumpling recipe...but don't be scared off by that...you should definitely try it! The only thing I did differently was that I added 2 tsp of cornstarch to my half and half before adding to the pot. I will definatley be making it again...maybe this time I'll add some carrots and/or celery. Oh, I also used bisquick for my dumplings and need more of the mix to thicken them up. The only thing that my husband had to say was that he thought it needed more chicken and more dumplings. Thanks for sharing this great recipe with us!!

Cinnamon Raisin Bread I

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
Very good and easy...I did not make a glaze for the top....but next time I will, I think it would make it just that much better. I noticed that it dries out quickly...but I think all cinnamon raisin bread tends to do so.

Brownie Chocolate Chip Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
This cheesecake was very good and easy to make! After reading some of the reviews, I did not use the entire amount of brownie batter for a 9 inch pan (I made mini "muffin" browines with the remaining batter) and I was glad I did. I would say I used a little over half of the batter. The only other thing I did differently was that I tossed the mini chocolate chips with a little flour. I also read that people baked it longer..some as much as 20 minutes! I only left mine in an additional 5 minutes. I turned the oven off and left the oven door ajar and let the cheesecake cool/setup in the oven. Thanks for a great recipe.

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2007
This pasta dish was very simple to make and delicious to boot! I did follow the advice of others: double the sauce, cut the chicken to bite size pieces and add a package of frozen broccoli(thawed before hand). Thanks so much for a great recipe.
