About this Cook
I live in Phenix City, AL with my husband and two kids. I love to cook and bake for my family and friends, and I especially love trying out new recipes. I also love to sew, I started three years ago when my daughter was born and it's become a hobby that sometimes borders on obsession.
My favorite things to cook
Depends on weather, number of people I'm feeding and other factors. Some favorites are Bolognese Sauce, Bread, Big Gorgeous Roasts, Biscuits, Pecan Pie and Brunch for a crowd.
My favorite family cooking traditions
At Thanksgiving I have my husband invite people from work who won't be with family. Usually we have 10 or 12 soldiers eating with us, along with other friends, it's hectic and loud and by far my favorite holiday! I also loved Beef Tenderloin for Christmas Eve dinner every year while I was growing up. And Sunday Brunch is a family favorite now.
My cooking triumphs
Biscuits! I have lived in the south my entire life and until about a year ago I lived with the shame of bad biscuit making.
My cooking tragedies
So far nothing terrible, although learning to make bread was pretty ugly in the beginning.

Annette's Great Ham Glaze
My family and I love this glaze. The flavor is more mildly sweet than a lot of other recipes, and the mustard and cider balance it out really well. Someone said that the molasses was overpowering, if you make sure to simmer at least 8-10 minutes it sort of mellows it out, and helps make sure the flavors all combine well.
