Bourbon Balls II

Reviewed: May 23, 2006
These are always a hit in my Christmas gift baskets. I make them several days in advance and leave out for 24 hours. Then I refrigerate for a few days. I find that the taste mellows the longer you wait to serve them. Thanks!

Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: May 5, 2006
I loved this after I made some very slight changes. This is better like this: cold butter shortening cut up (do not combine this entirely it is ok to leave some small pieces) , 4 tbs sugar, 1 tbs vanilla. Do not overmix. It is best just to use your hands and stop as soon as all the ingredients are moist. I found that spreading it in a pan made it tough. I greased a pizza pan and just dumped the shortcake in the center of the pan, then I sprinkled the top with sugar before I put it in the oven.

Good recipe. My kids love it with 1/4 cup choc chips mixed in. I also add vanilla to the batter as previously suggested.

Grandmother's Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2006
A Family favorite. I usually make the dough on Sundays and then my husband gets fresh baked cookies for dessert day of the every week. I use 1/2 cup less oats because we like our cookies a little less dry, and golden raisins instead of regular since they aren't as tough.

This was great. I used waknut instead of the almonds, but besides that I make it exact and it tastes like the one at Whole Foods.

Famous Pork Chops

These were very good. They came out moist but I did flash fry them on both sides before baking them and they came out nice and crisp.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2006
I made this tonight and it was delicious! My husband loved it and so did I. I didn't have any basil so I used thyme, and I don't care for celery salt so I used garlic salt. The flavor is amazing. I will make this over and over and over again!

Chocolate Cherry Drops

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2003
I loved these, I baked all during the holidays and these were always on my list. I bought the colossal size cherries from SAM'S and COSTCO and cut them in half and placed them on the cookie before baking, it was wonderful the cherries candied during the baking. i also am a presentation freak so i melted some white chocolate put in in one of those ketchup/mustard squeeze containers and drizzled it oner the tops of these cookies, the red, white, and chocolate looked fab. I Have found I needed to add more flour to the recipe to make the dough less sticky.

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2002
i altered this a little, I substituted pecans for the white chocolate, used orange liquer for the brandy, added a little orange zest and then melted the white chocolate and drizzled it over the cookies. Yum. I tried the original recipe and was pleased with it, i just tweaked it a little the 2nd time I made it
