About this Cook
36, scientist.
My favorite things to cook
Baking treats to share!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom taught me how to cook when I was a kid, and my family was very encouraging. She also made me somewhat reluctantly join 4H as a child, and since we weren't the aggie types, cooking and crafts were the highlights. I hope to be as encouraging for my children one day, too! My father is Greek so I guess I have "good cooking" genes from both sides of the family!
My cooking triumphs
When I was 11 or 12 I made these extravagent/time consuming layered brownies that won a blue ribbon at the local 4H fair, and they were chosen to go to the state fair, but since they were so complicated I decided not to go... so kinda a tragedy at the same time!

Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce
This is perfection! I just put all of the ingredients in the crockpot at the same time, cooked on high for a couple of hours, and used a potato masher to chunk it up a bit. It's even easier if you have an apple peeler/corer/slicer machine- it took me like 5 minutes to get everything into the crockpot. You can leave out the sugar, depending on the type of apples used, too.

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine
The bread came out looking perfect, and the crust was nice, but the interior was nothing special. I would make it again b/c it's so easy and looks good, but I will keep looking for a better loaf.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles
These were one of the top faves of my cookie trays last year, so I will put them into my regular rotation!
