I'm a wife and mother of four. I am a novice cook, but I am working on getting better. My husband is my inspiration when it comes to cooking. He is an unofficial chef (by natural talent) and I seek to get great like him. I thought I hated cooking, but as I began using this website I have found some great and easy recipes that my family enjoys. I am finding a new pleasure in seeing them happy and well fed.
My favorite things to cook
I am discovering that I really like the Indian and Mediterranean cuisine. I actually do well preparing their foods and the taste and aromas are just wonderful. It has been a great and new experience exploring food from other cultures and giving my children a chance to experience food outside of the norm. I hope this will encourage them to explore when they are older.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love our Thanksgiving and Christmas traditions. My husband usually does everything and I'm the kitchen help. In the past year I have been helping with the actual cooking and contributing dishes of my own. This is very exciting. I see our holiday cooking traditions as a time to bond and get together as a team.
My cooking triumphs
I could burn water over a year ago and now I am making complete meals that my family enjoys. It's very rewarding. My next goal is desserts.
My cooking tragedies
I remember one time when I burned the spaghetti noodles. The pot was on the stove and the water had just begun a hard boil. I added the noodles and 10 min later the house was filled with smoke. I was flabbergasted. I couldn't understand how I was able to burn the noodles and the water was still in the pot. I ultimately blamed it on the pot and took the pot and the burned noodles back to the store for a refund. I would have to say this was my worst cooking day thus far.
