I started cooking at age 9. My Mother gave me the freedom to experiment with recipes. It took a lot of food to feed our family of 11. Being the oldest daughter, growing up Amish, on a dairy farm, taught me the value of working hard and doing my best in all of life's ventures. I prefer cooking without a recipe. My favorite cooking style, is to choose from ingredients on hand to create new dishes using my imagination.
My favorite things to cook
I experiment daily with vegan (no animal products) recipes. My goal is to make delicious vegan recipes that meat and dairy lovers will enjoy too.
My cooking tragedies
As a newlywed, I left home with a pot of stew on my electric stove for four hours. When I came home, I discovered my error but was thoroughly relieved that the stew hadn't caught fire. It was raining so I put the pot outside and left to run more errands. A few hours later when my husband and I returned, the stench in the house was unbearable. We had to spend the night at my parent's house and aired the house out for the next three days. The smell got into my clothes in my bedroom closet. It was by far the worst cooking experience I've ever had!
