About this Cook
I'm a beginner with virtually no experience, but am trying to learn! I've mastered a few recipes, but still have a long way to go. I'm a vegetarian that tries to keep at least 60% of my meals vegan, so finding good recipes that I can handle with no animal products is my main goal...especially since I'm living in Mexico right now, where there aren't a whole lot of those strange ingredients that many vegan recipes call for to be had.
My favorite things to cook
Thai peanut pasta!! It was the first recipe from here that I really mastered. Completely vegan, and so hearty and delicious! I looooove thai food and want to make more.
My favorite family cooking traditions
...was having people cook FOR me. :-) Time to stop being a food princess.
My cooking triumphs
Thai peanut pasta, and sweets, like cookies, pays, etc.
My cooking tragedies
Once I was making brownies (out of a box) and mixed up the measurements...they were rock hard.

Thai Peanut Noodle Stir-Fry
I looooooove this recipe, though since I use allll natural ingrediants (meaning I have to chop everything), it takes me a good hour and a half to two hours to make...also because I'm pretty slow still. :-) Per other reviews, I omitted the honey, and I have no idea where to get sake in Mexico, so I don't add that either. My American and Canadian friends love it, my Mexican friends aren't quite as impressed...spicy and sweet I don't think goes well with the Mexican pallet...they're more into spicy and salty, or spicy and tart. Anyway, this is my absolute favorite thing to make, when I have the time.

Sauteed Swiss Chard with Parmesan Cheese
Pretty good! For me it could have been a little more flavorful, plus I but in a can a garbanzo beans (as suggested) when I put in the leaves, but I should have put them in before that...they weren't too well-cooked. Very nice and nutritious side dish, I'll keep experimenting with it...I want to try with raisins too!
