Pear Honey

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2012
I can tell the taste would be fabulous, but cooking on medium for just 2 hours ruined the batch. It petrified into more of a hard candy after putting it into jars and cooling. I will probably try it again and cook it at more of a simmer temperature. I guess every stove is different, so be careful!

Peanut Butter and Banana French Toast

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2010
We had mixed reviews in our family. One loved it, two thought it was just okay, and one didn't like it at all. The mushy banana texture was a turn off.

Crustless Cheese Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2010
After enjoying the wonderful Crustless Spinach Quiche recipe from this site many times, I decided to try a different recipe. Our family didn't like the texture of this recipe at all with the baking mix in it and it definitely was a little bland for us.

Pita Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2005
This was a tasty healthy meal. My kids didn't care for the spice as much as the adults, but we loved it. I made it very close to the recipe, but I added a bit more seasoning because we like lots of flavor,I substituted guacamole in place of the avacado because it was on hand, and we added some shredded cheese. Very quick and tasty.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2004
I love trying new recipes, which is why I gave this a try even though macaroni and cheese isn't a regular menu item in our family. I was very disappointed. The taste was okay, though a bit bland, but the texture was anything but creamy. I just thought with the 1/2&1/2 and all the cheese and the Velveeta (processed cheese) that it would be creamy. So for the cost of all the cheeses and the 1/2&1/2, I would stick with Kraft Velveeta shells & cheese.

Bacon Chicken II

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2004
This was a very easy recipe and my chicken turned out very moist. After all the reviews, I worried about a bunch of soggy bacon, but didn't want to mess up another dish to precook the bacon. So, I followed the cooking recipe as directed except I cut back the bacon and only used one slice per chicken breast (cut in half and criss-crossed over the breast) so I could avoid too much grease. I also used a smaller casserole dish that the chicken breasts fit in close together and I just poured on the amount of BBQ sauce that covered the chicken breasts good (it certainly wasn't a full 18 ounces). The dish was very good for how simple it was to put together. The chicken was juicy and I like the bacon the way it cooked, though it certainly wasn't crispy.

Creamy Hot Chocolate

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2004
I made this recipe as directed with much anticipation (because I love the flavor of Eagle Brand Milk), but it was quite a disappointment. I had to add creamer and sugar to even make it where my family would drink it. I just expected it to be much richer and it seems so watery and I even used a little less water at first based on other reviews. Maybe substituting milk is the answer as other reviewers have suggested, but I was out so I made it by the recipe with high hopes. Oh well, they can't all be the best.

Pear Bread I

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2004
This bread has a very mild flavor. My husband and I (and children) enjoyed the bread, however, other relatives thought it was a little bland. It is subtle in flavor, but it really grows on you the more you eat.

Excellent recipe! Very Moist! The only thing I would do to suite my taste is to double the icing recipe.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2004
Awesome. I tried the variation with cinnamon chips and sprinkled cinnamon/sugar mix on top and everyone loved them. I also made the plain to go with my homegrown strawberries and they are great too.

Fluffy Instant Donuts

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2004
This was such a let down. I was so excited to make the funnel cakes with this recipe. It soaked up so much grease--a heart attack waiting to happen! Of course topped with a pile of powdered sugar, the kids were willing to eat, but neither my husband nor I could eat them.

Lemon Mushroom Herb Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2004
This was wonderful. In a group of 8, a few thought the lemon was a bit strong but the rest of us loved it!! Very easy to make. I doubled the recipe, except for the flour mixture and it was porportioned perfect. I also dipped the chicken in egg first and that worked great. GREAT RECIPE!

Toasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2004
Very good recipe. Both good and easy! I was out of mozzarella, so I used swiss and it was great. I also chose to use sliced cheese because I thought it would be a little easier to keep from getting it on the pan. Worked great.

These were wonderful. I used leftover mashed potatoes, so they were already flavored and I stirred the cheese into the potatoes and it worked great.

Texas Ranch Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2003
I rarely write reviews, but this recipe was just too good and too simple not too. The only thing I added was a bit of meat seasoning (or seasoned salt) sprinkled on the chicken before topping with the dressing. You couldn't have an easier recipe, so it is hard to believe that it turns out so tasty!

Maple Syrup Casserole Made in Heaven

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2003
I don't normally take the time to review recipes, but I didn't want anyone else to serve this up at a big family gathering and have NOONE like it except a little 3 year old that would eat anything. First of all, spreading the cream cheese does seem important so you don't have clumps. Second, it was a mushy texture that was pretty gross. Finally, it really needed maple syrup served with it to make it taste edible. I thought with 2 cups in the recipe it would be sweet enough, but everyone added more syrup. I was so excited to try a dish you could make the night before, but next time I'll remember my rule not to test new recipes when I'm having company.
