Fresh Strawberry Upside Down Cake

I wanted SO bad to like this cake but couldn't get past the fake tasting strawberry goo. Sad to have wasted such wonderful strawberries.

Harvest Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
Wonderful salad. I normally don't make changes to recipes but I decided to use what I had on hand. Instead of walnuts I candied some pecans = 1/2 cup pecans to a 1/2 cup sugar which were candied in a skillet. Didn't have avocado, but will add this next time. Very beautiful presentation too. Thanks Tiffany!

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
Super duper! Added a pound more meat ... marinated the sliced roast in red wine (about a cup) for an hour. Used dijon mustard instead of yellow and made it a tablespoon instead of a teaspoon. Lastly added a tablespoon of worcestershire sauce and 1/3 cup cream cheese towards the end.

Amazing Crusted Chicken

Good stuff! I used what I had on hand. Panko bread crumbs in place of the italian bread crumbs and and FLIP crackers (1/2 pretzel 1/2 cheddar cracker). The mayo was a nice touch and added wonderful moisture.

I was feeling more crunchy and cheesy goodness when I started making this SO ... I added about 1/2 cup more crackers, 1/4 cup fried onions and 1 cup of whatever cheese we had on hand. OH, and 1/4 cup diced onion that I sauteed. Can't wait to make it again!

This sauce was GREAT! Left the sausage and ground beef out because we made the The Best Meatballs recipe by Geanine. I think they are BFF's.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
CRAZY-TASTY-GOODNESS!!! I made minor changes. Added 1/2 cup more blueberries and put a crumbled topping on them = 2 T butter, 5 T sugar and 2 T flour mixed well together. My husband LOVED them and he is not a blueberry fan. We will be sure to share with friends and family.

Mama's Italian Wedding Soup

:-( Both my husband and I thought this recipe was bland. It tasted like ground beef in broth. I tried to doctor it up ~ adding fresh garlic, some italian seasoning. Nothing helped. Maybe our taste buds just need a little more pow!

Blue Bacon Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2008
Thank you Maggie for a fantastic recipe. I've made it a couple times now and have made only some small changes. We are big blue cheese fans so I added more blue cheese. I didn't add the butter to the bacon grease. I just cooked the garlic and mushroom stems in the bacon grease. (which is a must) Lastly instead of the bread crumbs I took a 1/2 a cup of cheddar fishy crackers, put them in my mini food processor and then added them to the cheese mixture. This has joined the family favorites file.

Baked Salmon II

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2008
WOW WOW WOW. This was just delious. I marinated the salmon for two hours and my husband grilled the salmon for about 20 - 25 minutes. We had purchased a piece of salmon with no skin that weighed a little over two pounds. The only thing different that we'll do next time (when using a piece of salmon much larger then the recipe). Is increase the quantity of all the ingredients according to the size of the piece of salmon. For example - 2lb piece of salmon = use 4 times the amount of ingredients. EXCEPT for the olive oil, I don't think it needed as much as was recommended. I'd experiment with that. Plus, I used italian seasoning instead of just basil. This is a must for salmon lovers recipe box.

First I would like to thank Denise for posting this recipe and all the reviews that gave some GREAT suggestions. I tripled almost everything except for the tomatoes and green chilis. Tripled = garlic, lime juice, cilantro, onion, and added 1 tsp cayenne pepper and 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper. CAN'T WAIT TO MAKE IT AGAIN!!

Chicken Papadoris

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
I never do this. What is that you ask? I never change a recipe until I've made it at least once. BUT, after realizing once I started that I didn't have all the ingrediants I needed (cornstarch, curry (I KNOW!) and cumin) I tried red curry. After I read what was actually in this red curry blend (coriander, cumin, chili pepper, red pepper and cardomom) at least the McCormicks brand, I thought I might be ok. The cornstarch would have added a nice thickening to it, but I was ok, I just added about 1/4 cup whipping cream. Let me tell you ... this was DELISH! AND, my husband, who doesn't like coconut was ready to gobble this dish up. Please make sure to read what other reviewers have to say, there were a lot of helpful tips, more then most reviews that I've read in other recipes. Thank you William for a new family favorite.

Cranberry Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
Not big on the really sweet muffins, like tart?? - THIS MUFFIN IS FOR YOU! I took the advice of a few reviewers ~ put some sugar on the top of the muffins the last 5 minutes of baking. Added a 1/2 cup of milk chocolate chips and made 6 large muffins instead of 12 of the smaller muffins. The consistency of the muffins is GREAT! The taste is wonderful. I'm a big cranberry fan so this was a hit for me. The kids weren't real fond of the tartness of the cranberry, but they still ate it. *probably because of the chocolate chips ;-)* Next time I make these muffins I will double or triple the recipe and freeze some of them. One last thing, I did chop the cranberries with just a knife but will use my food processor next time.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2006
This was the first time I had ever made homemade biscuits ... I usually would just use bisquick. Well, this is the last time I'll be using bisquick for biscuits. This recipe was so easy and the biscuits came out perfect. We had them with the cinncinnati chili recipe found on this site and served them with honey butter. Next time I will double the recipe and use them for biscuits and gravy or even add a little more sugar to them and use them for strawberry shortcake. Thanks JP!! Big Daddy Biscuits ROCK!

Pumpkin Dump Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2006
Hello fellow reviewers. I'm not an experienced dump cake maker or eater, BUT, the 20 or 30 that I've had from pumpkin to berry have all been the same hence the word DUMP in the recipe title. That's what makes this recipe such a wonderful thing. You mix your ingrediants, put them in a dish, and then DUMP the cake part on top. For the 1 star raters, if you MUST have a bottom to this DUMP cake and serve it on a plate, put some of the cake batter on the bottom of your dish.
