Spicy South of the Border Spinach Cheese Dip

Reviewed: May 6, 2003
This was fantastic and the leftovers froze really well. I'd add one more can diced chiles next time since I like the flavor. This will be on our standard picnic menu.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: May 6, 2003
Everyone loved this recipe. I'd skip the chips since they were time consuming and not my thrill. I also served them with butter biscuits, the Marie Lu type. I found some cinnamon topped ones at a Middle Eastern grocer which fit the flavors wonderfully.

Overnight Raisin Oatmeal Pancakes

We loved this easy recipe. Oatmeal is a favorite in our house and this is a delicious variation. It will be a standard.

Fra Diavolo Sauce With Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2003
So easy and so delicious! I had a bag of big scallops and so I used just those rather than a shrimp-scallop combo. I also used dried basil because I didn't have parsley. This will go on our favorite list!

This is an alltime favorite in our house. I add 1/2 tsp. mustard powder.

Sweet and Sour Chicken I

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2007
This was an easy recipe and pretty tasty but it lacked some zing in the sauce and the chicken batter was soft rather than crispy after frying.

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
This was super easy, so hearty and tasty. I used tomato paste (lazy -- we don't have canned tomatoes where I live). I also used cabbage instead of zucchinie since that's what I had on hand. I forgot the garanzos and wouldn't put them in next time, I think.

Plum Chipotle Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
Loved it. I pureed my plums and then put them through a sieve really only straining out the skins. I used chipotle powder. I'm not a canner so I'm going to freeze my leftovers.

Moroccan Chicken Sann

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
I was disappointed. Mine tasted a bit grainy from all the spices and mostly just soy sauce. It was aesthetically unappealing. I'm going to try to doctor it a bit today by adding some sugar to balance out the flavors.

Turkish Rissoles

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
My family loved these. I made flatter patties and substituted bread crumbs for the flour. I served with a roasted veggie bulgar pilaf and an eggplant-chickpea dish. A salad would have been a nice addition. Thanks for the great recipe.

Apple Chutney

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
Excellent! I used old, mushy, sweet apples (decreased the sugar) and it turned out great. Next time, I'll use less ginger since it was a bit overpowering.

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2012
I decreased brown sugar to 1/2 c. as suggested and found that it was still very sweet. I baked in 9x13 until golden on edges and they're nice and chewy. This is definitely something we'll be freezing and grabbing for lunches and picnics. Great recipe and I can see loads of variations to keep them from getting boring.

Barbecued Beef

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2012
Great bbq! Not too sweet, not too tangy, not too saucy. I used london broirl and cooked it for over 10 hours and had none of the greasy issues noted by other reviewers.

Egg Drop Soup (Better than Restaurant Quality!)

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2012
I love this egg drop soup...when you have nothing in the house, this is the soup! My family thinks it's plain but "it's egg drop soup!" I think this version has good flavor.

Damson Plum Cardamom Jam

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2012
We devoured this jam with leftover plums (not damsom perhaps but a sour variety) and enjoyed it most with queso fresco cheese on toast.

Best London Broil Ever!

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2012
This dish lacked flavor and the meat was super tough. I think it might have been better in slow cooker on low for 10+ hours as I've done with other london broil cuts.
