Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2013
This was good, dense and easy to make. I did heed other reviewers comments and reduced the sugar to about 2.25 cups. I also added thinly sliced strawberries to the middle of the cake, strawberries to the top and then a glaze made with evaporated milk and confectioners sugar. I served it at an office birthday party and it was a hit.

Butternut Squash with Onions and Pecans

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
Very good. Went over like crazy at Christmas dinner. You can also cook these same ingredients in a roasting pan in the oven if you want. Sometimes I add bacon ....its a vice! :)

Divinity

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2005
This recipe worked great. But it took a few tries. The first time I used pasturized egg whites from a carton and it flopped. You can't uses pasturized eggs!! The next time I used real egg whites, followed the instructions to the letter except that I allowed the sugar mixture to cool to 110 before adding it to the egg whites. You must pour SLOWLY. I had a couple changes to the ingredients:I did not have any light corn syrup, so I used dark, still worked fine and tasted wonderful. I also added walnuts just before I scooped it out for crunch and that worked great. It does take patients and a good stand mixer, but it is worth all the work. I plan to do this again and experiment with different flavors and colors. Maybe some pink and blue for Easter, green for St. Patty's!!

Make Ahead French Toast

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2004
This is a very good idea and can be a great starter recipe for all types of breakfast casseroles. I made it plain, just the way the instructions said, and just smushed all the bread into a 9X9 baking dish, poured the mixture over the top and baked it. It came out very firm, like a bread pudding. Im thinking it would ba good with a spice mixed added to it, like Mrs Dash for a more savory rendetion or pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon for a wintery holiday version. I also may considering adding bananas or rasins to it for a fruit nut version. Since my bread was squeezed into the dish, it made a very nice, sliceable casserole that stood up well. The extra amount of mixture used in the recipe actually helps keep all the bread soaked during baking and keeps it from getting too hard. A good recipe, I'll use it again.

Turtle Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2004
This cake was wonderful. I served it at a luncheon I hosted and got rave reviews. Its absolutely decadent and not really that hard to make, just take your time. Of course I added a shot of bourbon whiskey to the cream cheese and chocolate mixture to give it my own kicked up twist!!

This was a wonderful pie. I followed the directions exactly. I especially like sweet Potato pie without all the spices in it, and this one was perfect.

Sugar-Free Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2003
I made this at Thanksgiving for my mother who is diabetic. Well, it was everyones favorite. I followed the instructions exactly except I used a 9X9 square baking dish and added about a cup of walnuts. It was delicious, especially the whiskey sauce! I plan to make this at Christmas as well.

This was very good. I made it the night before and it really worked well. I exchanged the sweetened condensed milk for skim evaporated milk and Splenda for a lighter version.

Marinated Pork Roast with Currant Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2003
This was extremely easy and delicious. The sauce made the meal!! We even put it on our potatoes. I marinated it over night and served it up with Day Before Mashed Potatoes and a salad. It was a great meal that I completely made a day ahead.

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2002
These potatoes were very good. I even used lite cream cheese and sour cream in the recipe. I did add a little milk to the mix to help loosen them up a bit. One note: If you double the recipe, do not double the onion powder. I used three teaspoons and it was plenty for a doubled batch. I will use this recipe again.

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2002
This recipe was wonderful! I made it for Thanksging and it was a real hit. The bourbon flavor gets stronger each day if you have left-overs, so you may want to decrease it a little.
