Grill Master Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2011
Ok, this was really good according to the wing connoisseurs. I should have read the directions before offering to make this for the Rose Bowl party (love you Badgers!). Why? Well, revving up the outdoor grill the month of Jan in Wisconsin is DESPERATE :) Oh well, the guys NEVER complained and ate every single wing. I used FRANKS RED HOT BUFFALO WING sauce (regular heat) as recommended by other reviewers. I made NO changes. I would definitely make this again but next time...a football game before it's below zero.

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2011
This was just perfect for a cold winter's day! I was looking for a healthy non-tomato based soup. I am following the phase II of South Beach and this fit the bill! High in protein and fiber, low in added crud. I added spinach and substituted the garbanzo beans for cannellini (white) beans. I used low sodium broth as I feel that we can always add our own salt if needed. I see many reviewers thought it needed more kick but we don't particularly like spicy foods so this soup was just the right flavor.

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
great! i really liked that the beans were incorporated into this recipe. I am partial vegetarian and it provided a great source of protein. Don't get me wrong, the dish was well enjoyed by the carnivores too :) I really like the recipe for its versatility....you can swap out the ingredients that you don't like, and add those that you prefer. I did scoop out the tomatoes to decrease the amount of water so it wouldn't get soggy.

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
I made this tonight for a round robin with our friends. Most of them are hard core carnivores but this received unsolicited 5-star raving reviews!!! I did not use the wine. I think that I may consider adding garbanzo beans-personal preference. I otherwise followed the recipe as-it.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
Great Fall muffin. Even enjoyed by my 6y/o since he thought that the chocolate chips were the bomb (I used Ghirardelli dark chocolate chips) but I liked the fact that there was pumpkin "hidden" for extra nutrition! These even went over well at his Kindergarten "Harvest/Thanksgiving feast". I followed the recipe as written.

Rosemary Chicken Couscous Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
Fantastic! I took the advice of other reviewers and used 1/2cup of oil rather than 3/4cup, whole wheat couscous and reduced fat feta cheese. The flavors were delicious and even better then next day! A new favorite dish to pass!

Creamy Eggnog Fudge

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
Even though I am not a big Eggnog fan, I thought that the flavor was good. however, next time I will definitely take the advice of others and decrease the amount of sugar. I am a sweet tooth an even I found it too sweet.

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2007
OH Holy Yummy!!!! I made this for my daughter's baptism and received rave reviews. The coating tasted great with the mustard flare. I generally do not like Salmon but with this recipe, I will make it again! I purchased the freshest salmon I could find, which I am sure is half the battle. Yummm, I will definitely make this again!

Strawberry Angel Food Dessert

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
Perfect recipe for celebrating fresh strawberry picking season. I omitted the strawberry glaze (really not necessary) and used one container of low fat cream cheese and one regular (I tried the fat free cream cheese and the taste was pretty awful). I also used fat free cool whip and reduced the sugar as other reviewers. My husband and I polished it off rather quickly.

Blue Cheese Beef Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
I made this for our family Christmas and came out wonderfully. My father (the ultimate carnivore guru) thought this was the bomb! To prove how easy this was to make...I am a vegetarian and even I was able to prepare this entree without too much difficulty!!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
oh my, now these are REALLY yummy!! I generally don't like cookies beyond the first few hours after baking but these were good even the next day (beyond that I couldn't tell you, the batch was GONE!!!). My husband even received raving reviews from his co-workers and requested the recipe! I added 1 TBLS almond extract, 1 tsp salt and subsituted the 2 C. butter for 1/2 C. butter and 1/2 C. shortening.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2005
Wow! YUMMY. We used Macintosh apples and they were a great balance with the sweetness of the topping! My husband practically ate the entire pan in a couple of days!

Soft Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2003
This was a great cookie. I followed the advice of TARA1972 from 6-20-03. I would also suggest transfering the dough into a wax paper lined container for the chilling process...it was difficult to remove from the bowl. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars.

Asparagus Cashew Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2003
This was well received at my sons baptism. We did substitute the spagetti with wild rice. Used vegetable broth (we invited vegetarians). Used only half the butter suggested. Roasted the cashews. Lastly, we put the aspargus and cashews in at the end (when ready to serve) so they stayed firm.

Blue Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2002
This sauce was absolutely wonderful. EVERYONE loved it at Thanksgiving dinner(even my very pickey 2y/o and 4y/o nieces!) I added one can of drained mandarin oranges as decribed by another reviewer and it was a PERFECT blend! I also used frozen blueberries since they were so out of season and expensive. I would definitely make it again and I've already signed up to bring it to a work party!
