Portuguese Sweet Bread I

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
This is the best bread machine recipe I have ever made! It has a super-light texture and is so satisfying. The fam wolfed this one down. I have a 2 /2.5 lb loaf machine, so overflow wasn't a problem. I baked it as a 2 lb loaf and it was perfect! Thanks for the fabulous recipe!

Mrs. Sigg's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2005
OH MY GOSH! These cookies are sooooo good! I am thrilled that I finally found a great peanut butter cookie recipe. They are soft, but have a nice crisp edge. Perfection. I followed the recipe and they were totally TONGUE-GASMIC! Even the dough (c'mon we all try it) was fab.

French Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2001
I have never received so many compliments on a cake! Everyone was just amazed at how light it was. Not too sweet! Absolutely perfect!! I used it as the base icing and borders on my daughters first birthday cake. Even with the regular decorating buttercream (which is quite heavy) on top of it you could still taste the cake!! I was a bit worried because it was an VERY humid day and I was afraid with the cream it would seperate or melt, but it didn't at all!! Winning recipe that I will use from now on!

Barbeque Halibut Steaks

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2001
Even I liked this and I don't care for fish!!! I used ahi and broiled it instead of BBQ (although grilling would taste better, or course) and it was a big hit at my house. This is a super fast dinner to make- fast to cook AND fast to prep and clean up. GREAT RECIPE! I will definately be making this again!

Johnny Appleseed Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2001
My family loved these meatballs. Great with rice and mac salad. I made double the gravy since we like it on the rice. The sweetness was a nice change. I like to hear my husband say "MMMMM! What is this???" and try to figure out the twist in a recipe, which he definately did with this one. Looks familiar enough that the kids tried it and liked it. Make sure to chop the apple into FINE chunks or it is a pain to shape the meatballs :o) A+ recipe!!

Bacon Mushroom Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2001
DELICIOUS!! Long ago for a dinner party I made a time-consuming, expensive dish that everyone loved, but I have haven't made it since because it was such a pain. This recipe had nearly the same flavor, but I used what I already had (inexpensive) and it was SO easy!! I used boneless skinless breasts, so it cooked a little faster. WONDERFUL. Even the kids liked it. Tastes impressive, without all the headache!! I will definately make this again and again!

Little Meat Loaves

Reviewed: May 19, 2001
I've been making mini-meatloafs for years. My husband is a meatloaf freak and I can't stand hearing "Is it done yet?? I'm dying!!" for the whole time a large loaf cooks. The addition of the sausage was so good! The kids didn't really like the difference, but we adults did. Another good thing about the size is that you are sure to get yummy glaze with every bite!

Fried Chicken with Creamy Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2001
This is a FABULOUS recipe!! One thing I could never get right was fried chicken... until now!! I used diluted evaporated milk in the gravy and it tastes just like the chicken and gravy my 85 year old grandmother makes! Put some good mashed potatoes and a salad on the side and you have a country-style meal that is simply delish!!

This is a GREAT sidedish that is very complimentary with a lot of different main courses. Best of all it was FAST and EASY!! A nice change from the same ol' same ol' without having to put forth a lot of effort or expense.

Almond Coconut Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2001
SWEEEET!! I love rich desserts, but this was almost too much for me! It did look like a train wreck, but it tasted WONDERFUL!! I will make this again (probably cutting back on the topping, as others have suggested). Cut the pieces small, grab some milk and ENJOY!!

Grilled Shrimp Scampi

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2001
YUMMY!! Absolutely perfect. Deveining the shimp was yucky, but after that, this recipe was super easy. I served it with a nice herbed steak and they went perfectly together. This will be what I present the next time I host dinner!! Another plus... clean-up was a snap!

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2000
This recipe is truly "idiot-proof". I made 2 batches for Christmas and I was afraid it was too much, but it didn't last long at all. Now my father-in-law is my new best friend! The milk chocolate adds a wonderful creaminess to it.

Buttery Cooked Carrots

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2000
My husband (the anti-veggie man) went to the store just to buy carrots so I would make these again! The kids could help and they loved it too!! Just the right amount of sweetness... compliments a lot of main dishes. A new staple in our menu plans!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2000
Simply perfect!! These were my dad's favorite cookies so I was happy to find this recipe. Now my two children get to help roll the cookies in the sugar just like I did when I was a child. I'm so glad that such a great recipe can now be part of their holiday memories too. Thanks!!
