About this Cook
My adventures in the culinary world started at the tender age of 10 when I made my own chicken cacciatore recipe which my entire family adored. I spend a lot of effort on cooking when entertaining -- I love to treat my guests to new flavors!
My favorite things to cook
Grilling is probably my favorite. I am a carnivore through and through!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies are probably my favorite things to make traditionally. My nephews feel cheated if I don't make the same cookies I've been making for 20 years.
My cooking triumphs
I discovered a method for cooking Prime Rib (thank you Cooks Illustrated!) that had my picky husband saying he'd never eat prime rib out again! Also, NYC Italian that he is, he has always complained about the bread everywhere but the city. So...I found a recipe for baguettes that almost (just almost) match with his childhood memories of fresh from the bakery bread!
My cooking tragedies
Probably my worst defeat was an ill-advised "garlic soup". It was dreadful and even 20 years later my family still teases me about it!

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip
This was not what I was expecting -- more like a pot roast than french dip.

Chicken Marsala
This was some seriously good chicken! It took about 30 minutes from start to table -- including making a salad and some pasta to serve it over making this a real god-send for weeknight weary chefs. Not crazy expensive to make and the flavors not outrageous enough to freak out anybody. I did add garlic just cause and one shallot to the mushrooms and it did bump it up a little. Good comfort food that's easy enough for the most basic cook, too.

Peach Pie
Very tasty recipe. I followed it TO THE LETTER to make sure it was all that it should be. I had to cook my pie a bit longer....not really sure why.....still made one darned good pie!
