Married, 42, with 4 kids between us- but all on their own now. First marriage was the cooking "test", with all the errors and exploration that came with it...lol Was raised in a German Food/ Pennsylvania Country Food household. Mother never let me in the kitchen, though, so being on my own in the kitchen was HUGE fun for me! I cooked up a storm! Second marriage involved learning and cooking fabulous Mexican food for ten years. Third (and last) is to a total foodie, like me, so I am always free to experiment and having a BALL! Due to health problems, had to cede kitchen to hubby for a while, but I am back in it now...so watch out! We love eating out and bringing ideas home, too!
My favorite things to cook
Love cooking German food, Polish, Mexican, Indian, Appalachian-style food, anything with wine in it, love to experiment and create/mix things up. Have been told I have a knack with herbs and spices. Being back in the kitchen after the hiatus, I am having fun going through my recipe box and reliving some of my faves over the years and introducing some to the hubby!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I LOVE a good BBQ, but my biggest fun is creating food that is a balance between gourmet and comfort food...I don't like recipes with 50+ ingredients, but love to create sauces and marinades and interesting layers of flavor.
My cooking triumphs
Having kids to cook for was the hardest thing ever...no one kid likes the same as the others! Any meal that could progress without someone "mumbling" about one thing or another was a HUGE success!
My cooking tragedies
Gosh, so many little ones...overmelting of cheese here, too much garlic there, not enough of whatever or too much of something else! It has all happened at some point...lol
