About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Spicy, fresh, quality ingredients, foods that inspire me to try or figure out how they are prepared/cooked. Love spice!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking in the fall when it gets cold, getting together with family and making special menus for anniversaries, trying to replicate my mom's cooking which will always be comfort food.
My cooking triumphs
Finding a biscuit recipe that somewhat resembled how my mom's biscuits tasted, making fried green tomatoes for my dad.
My cooking tragedies
Tragedy, hmmm not considered any real tragedies just experiments that went awry I guess ha ha, unless you consider that I forgot I used an old sugar bowl for kosher salt and put salt in my coffee instead of sugar--oh Lordy that's a taste you won't forget!!

Bird Seed Energy Bars
Very good! Dense and hearty bar for breakfast, a snack or energy on the go. I took another reviewer suggestion and used 1/2 c. oil and 1/2 c. applesauce. I also added coconut and raisins. Next time I think I will try reducing the amount of sugar and honey, and possibly trying to add in some coconut oil instead of canola. My children are in peanut free classrooms, so this is a great nut free bar to add to their snack/lunches at school.

Boniet
Wow, intense flavor! The anchovies gave the spread/dip enough salt for sure and you really didn't notice any fish flavor until the end of your bite. It didn't hit my palate right for some reason. I agree with another reviewer maybe a different softer tasting vinegar (for my taste)? Just my opinon tho. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

Jamaican Jerked Chicken
This recipe was very tasty! The fresh ingredients make a wonderful change to the usual grilled chicken! It wasn't too spicy for the kids, either. I did use boneless skinless chicken breasts, next time I will use bone in for more flavor or maybe chicken wings?? Good recipe to make ahead if your having people over.
