Honey Bun Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2003
I think this cake is sometimes called Sock-it-to-me or at least it's a very close recipe. Anyways, this cake is THE BEST. I added chocolate chips to the cinnamon layer the second time I made it and it was to die for. I also made the glaze with 3 tbs of butter. I warmed butter, confec. sugar and vanilla on the stove and then poured it on top. It is SO good that way. I made it in a one of those cute, sunflower bundt pans-a great thing to bring to someone's house.

Chewiest Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2003
Well, the name does not lie, these were VERY chewy. Almost strange to call it a brownie. More like dark, thick fudge. I thought I liked chewy brownies but maybe I like them a touch more fluffy. They were very sweet and like another person said, the top didn't look like a brownie at all. It wasn't a complete dissapointment (I tried to tell myself that I was just eating chocolate fudge) but I don't think I'll make these again.

Basic Truffles

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2002
I think I'm going to have to stick with Godiva. These just tasted like chocolate chips and hardened up too much in the bowl. They didn't mold well at all.

Glazed Nuts

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2002
This was not at all what I was expecting. They looked like I drenched them in cocoa powder and cinnamon. I was hoping for a shiny, honey colored glaze. They tasted kind of ok but got soggy within an hour.

Mexican Wedding Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2002
These tasted like dry, unsweetened crackers. My friend tried to come up with something decent to say when I gave him one but I totally agreed. I should have stuck with the classic recipe on the back of the powdered sugar box. I think using powdered sugar in the cookies must make a huge difference.

Michelle's Peanut Butter Marbled Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2002
I do not even need to try another peanut butter brownie recipe! This one is heaven. For a party that I'm catering the host made this one top priority. Everyone swooned over these. I added peanut butter chips to the peanut butter swirl. I recommend trying that-it is even yummier. Thanks so much Michelle!

Irresistible Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2002
This is such a perfect pecan pie recipe! I have found the recipe to stick with. I'll just tweak it a bit with chocolate chips or dried fruit if I ever feel like a slightly different taste. I made it because I liked how the other reviewers pointed out how nutty it came out. I don't like too much pale colored, sloppy "goo". I used dark corn syrup because I like the filling a little richer. Instead of placing the plain pecan halves on top, I mixed them in a sauce pan with honey, butter and brown sugar. I put the honey crunch mixture on top during the last 15 minutes of cooking. I highly recommend doing that. Everyone died for it--so amazing! Thanks Ingrid!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2002
I don't know if I botched the recipe but mine came out like little scones. Too thick and puffy. Not an improvement on basic chocolate chip cookies. The pudding idea is pointless.

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2002
This pie was pretty good. I mean how can you go too wrong with chocolate and pecans. It tasted a little pale and custardy in the middle. It's probably a matter of taste but I like my pecan pie a little darker and thicker. The pecans on the top tasted really good but I think I'll keep searching for the ultimate pecan pie.

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2002
This was the first crust I've ever made and it was delicious. I made a pie the other week with a frozen one and man what a difference. This crust was so buttery and yummy. I didn't know exactly how to make the sides look professional and pretty but tried to sculpt it into a decent shape. I highly recommend this crust and do not know what those negative reviews are all about. Thanks Stephanie!

Stephen's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2002
I am pretty picky about chocolate chip cookies. Do not hesitate to make this perfect recipe. They taste really buttery and I agree with the other reviewer about the slightly crispy edges and soft middle. Maybe it's just a taste preference but I don't mind my cookies not being puffy, that starts to taste too much like a scone. I used hazelnuts instead of almonds. Yea! I found the ultimate chocolate chip cookie recipe..thanks Wendy.
