Pumpkin Cheese Bread II

Fantastic,! Made as directed....do not skip orange zest as some stated. This is what sets this cake above the rest; it is that "wow" factor that makes the spices pop.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

This recipe is really very good. However, like another reviewer, I did feel as though it was missing something. Next go 'round, I will definately be adding some lemon zest. That being said, really a lovely recipe and highly adaptable to personal preferences. Thank you for sharing!

Garlic and Herb Cream Cheese

This was very good. I took the advice from other posters and cut butter way back to 2 Tbs. Instead of chopped garlic, I substituted garlic powder as I threw a party with children attending. (my kids are not very fond of chunks of raw garlic). I added in 1/2 cup reduced fat sour cream to help with spreadability. Thanks for sharing!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

This was a really good recipe. I usually have problems with rolled cookies sticking to the counter, but not with this recipe! Cookies held their shape beautifully and stayed fresh for several days after icing and decorating. Will be using this recipe often. Thanks for sharing!

Chef John's Shepherd's Pie

Very tasty....good base recipe. You can really use this as a guide and use what you've got on hand. I used sliced leeks, corn, green beans, carrots and celery for the veggies, which I sautéed in about a tablespoon of butter. Added about one tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and 2 t. Chopped fresh parsley with broth mixture. Also added white pepper and two tablespoons butter to potato topping and eliminated cheddar. The whole family enjoyed this. Thanks so much!

Zesty Zucchini and Squash

I made this recipe with a few tweaks. First, I sauteed the onions separately until they got nice and soft. Secondly, I added about 1/2 tsp. cumin and one can of drained and rinsed pinto beans with the remaining ingredients. I served it over a baked potato with a bit of lowfat sour cream. Delicious, filling, and nutritious meal that's also easy on the wallet. Thank you!

Lemon Pound Cake III

Not sure what happened here. Like some reviews that I read, my cake fell. I followed the recipe to a T. The taste was forgettable and I could barely taste any lemon. Sorry, would not make again.

Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix

We really enjoyed this seasoning mix. I much prefer it over those pre-made packets. A lot cheaper to make and no scary "filler" ingredients. FYI - this recipe seasoned one pound of meat perfectly. Thank you!

Playgroup Granola Bars

These were really good. I made them exactly as written, but I did substitute dried cranberries for the raisins due to personal preference. I made them last night and less than 24 hours later, I only have one bar left! Family LOVED them. I can't wait to make more of these and experiment with the recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Vegan Chocolate Cake

WOW! I have never baked anything vegan before. I am a new vegetarian and have been dabbling in vegan options. I love to bake with "traditional" ingredients and was not sure how this recipe would turn out. I was pleasantly surprised. I did add about 1/3 cup of miniature chocolate chips (not vegan, but I'm trying to work through what I've left in my cabinet). These were good right out of the oven, but as previous reviewers stated they really were better the next day! I can't wait to make these again. Delicious!

Vegan Mexican Stew

Very tasty! I just made this for dinner. I used one 15.8oz can of hominy and added one can of rinsed pinto beans for additional protein. I had no seasoned salt, either. So I had to sub for equal parts garlic powder, ancho chili powder, oregano and salt. Soooooo good. Thank you!

Glazed Almond Bundt Cake

Wow! It had a nice buttery almond taste to it. Did not make the icing, but we served the slices with some coconut pudding, sliced strawberries, and sliced almonds. Very nice texture, not too crumbly as other reviewers have stated. Would make a good addition to a gift platter, sliced up with other breads. Next time I think I will make two loaves as opposed to the bundt cake. 2nd day and it is just as good!
