The World's Greatest Crab Recipe

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2013
Just made this recipe on snow crab and king crab and it was the best crab I've ever had!! As a Northwest resident I would have loved to have tried it on fresh Dungeness but alas we were unable to go crabbing this season. I cooked it about four minutes on each side and it was flavorful, tender and perfectly cooked! I loved it. Next time, I'm going to try in in the oven as the BBQ does tend to flame up a lot and the pieces I loved best were the ones that didn't get "flame" broiled. Regardless, I will definitely cook my crab this way most every time (still will enjoy fresh steamed crab as frequently as possible)!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2013
I found it to be just OK at best. It was way too salty and way too thick. I only used two large chicken breasts but left sauce amounts the same. I also only put in half the italian dressing packet. In the end I had to add 1/2 a can of chicken stock to thin it out and then it was still too thick. Likely if I make this again I will use a whole can of stock, a whole can of cream of mushroom soup rather than cream of chicken (both will be low sodium)and only 4 oz of cream cheese and only use one tablespoon of the seasoning packet. Plus I will add some mushrooms and diced onions to give it a little better flavor. It was just average to less then average as it was. I'm sure the leftovers will end up in the trash.

Applesauce

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2012
I think the amounts are a little off. Needs a little less sugar. Also it needs to cook longer. I kept having to add more water to get the right consistence without burning it.. I think it's a fine base recipe but it really depends on what type of apples you use and their size etc. personally I like to do applesauce in the crockpot ... It ends out coming out so much smoother. When I cook it in the crockpot I use 5-6 lbs apples (or about 12 cups chopped), 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1 cup water, 1 tbsp lemon juice. I cook it on high for three hours then I mash it with a potato masher. It comes out yummy and smooth.

Mushroom Chicken Piccata

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2012
I made it as written, except maybe I used more mushrooms and I used less chicken... I wanted extra sauce and was cooking for four. It was a hit with everyone in the family (minus the picky 3 yr old). It is very flavorful and the chicken was nice and tender. The cooking time is perfect. We served it with rice and vegies and the sauce is excellent over the rice as well. I'm looking forward to my leftovers for lunch!

Creamy Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2012
I thought it was great!! I have tried a lot of stroganoff recipes and I think I like this one best. I did omit the nutmeg and clove only because I don't prefer those spices. I did add some sliced mushrooms because I love mushrooms. It turned out fantastic and the whole family loved it. Next time I think I will use beef broth rather than water. Thanks for the great and easy recipe :)

Creamy Shrimp Linguine

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
This was a hit at our house!! I used raw shrimp so I first sauteed the shrimp with some garlic and then poured it out in a dish and set it aside in a warm oven while I did the rest (in the same pan I cooked the shrimp in). I did add a small amount of white wine after sauteing the onions and before adding the cream allowing the wine to reduce down. We loved it! Even the kids ate every bite :) Next time I think I will leave out the swiss and just used double the parmesan. Thanks for a great and easy recipe!

Creamy Chicken on Linguine

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
Wow, love this recipe!! Just made it and all four of us LOVED it... that never happens, ever! I have an 8 yr old and a 3 yr old and they have never once liked the same thing... this they did, yay! Definitely adding it to our regular dinner routine! :) After reading other reviews I made the following changes... Used 6 chicken tenders rather than breasts as I was cooking for four, used half a package of pasta, left the sauce amount the same, used 2 garlic cloves rather than 1 and sauteed them with the onion so they wouldn't burn and only used 1/2 of an onion since kids were involved. It was awesome. Thanks for the recipe :)

Hudson's Baked Tilapia with Dill Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
We thought it was wonderful. The fish turned out tender and flavorful, it was not dry at all. The sauce was great and I will definitely try it on lots of other different types of fish. I followed the recipe to a T. I used butter to lightly grease the baking dish prior to putting the fish in. I doubt I used a whole tbsp of cajun seasoning... I pretty much just heavily sprinkled it on. Will add this to our regular family favorites and cook it at least once a month as we eat Tilapia quite frequently. Thanks for the recipe!

Easy Pilaf

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2012
I really love this recipe! The first time I made it I didn't have chicken broth so I used beef broth and added mushrooms and halved the onions, otherwise I followed the recipe. It was awesome and I will be making it for years to come. The second time I made it I followed the directions exactly and found it a bit too oniony. So I will continue to use half of an onion rather than a whole one. All together a great, easy and very tastey rice recipe that will be added to our regular meal rotation. Thanks for the recipe :)

Sweet Mustard Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2012
I thought it was great and so did my husband and young children. It was sweet and very tastey. I did change the amount of butter like other reviews suggested. I used 1/4 cup instead. Otherwise I didn't change a thing. I had no problem remembering to baste it and didn't find that a draw back at all. We will be adding it to our favorites and our regular rotation for sure. I loved that it was a boneless, skinless, baked chicken recipe with so few ingredients. I served it with the "Easy Rice Pilaf" recipe on this site and steamed carrots. So easy and so yummy, perfect for those busy week nights!

Zucchini Cakes

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2012
We thought these were awesome, husband couldn't get enough and the kids liked them too!! I didn't use seafood seasoning because I wanted them to taste like zucchini cakes. I used a regular seasoning instead. Next time I will dry them out more first and make them smaller. as they didn't hold together very well. We used ranch as a dipping saucce. Also, the prep time is extrememly decieving (or just plain wrong) It takes WAY longer than five minutes to get these ready.

Tender Italian Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2011
My husband loved it and I liked it alright. It was too salty for some reason in my opinion, maybe it was the type of garlic powder I used (lowerys). I'm not sure. I used the italian seasoned progresso panko crumbs too. It was nice and tender though. I will try it again only I will use less garlic powder and a different kind. Nice and easy and I like that a lot!

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
Wow, great recipe!! I didn't have as much time to marinate the steaks, I only had about five hours and they turned out scrumptious!! I didn't have onion powder so I used some fresh chopped onions instead, probably about 1/4 cup (because I love onions). As well, I didn't have cayenne pepper so I didn't use that. Otherwise I followed the recipe precisely and I thought it was one of the most tender and flavorfull steaks I have had in a very long time (and I used to be a grill cook at a restaurant and cooked 30-50 steaks daily). Very much highly recommended by me and I will be using this recipe for years to come!

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
Awesome!! Even my husband who doesn't really like casseroles, ham or potatoes really liked it a lot! I cut the recipe in half and used it as our main dish so I added a little bit of ham (used about 6 oz for a half recipe) and a handful more cheese. I also added 1/4 cup chopped onions. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly and it rocked!! I used Ore-Ida hashbrowns and carfefully broke them up while frozen which really helped the mixing process. So good, I could eat it everday if my waistline would allow, haha! I will definitely use it many times again! I can't wait for a family gathering so I can try it out on them :)
