Mincemeat Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
If you eat these cookies just cooled from the oven they are marvelous. I am not able to devour a bach or half batch that quickly. These do not hold up well and do not freeze well. The taste of the freshly baked cookie is a surprise treat, but enjoy while you may!

Chicken Soup II

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
I made this in a snap with only the addition of one hot chili pepper and a handful of cilantro. It is really a lovely soup and everyone enjoyed it

Kitty Litter Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
When I tell people about this cake, they scoff. But when I serve it they ALL come back for more and most ask if they can take some home. That is how good it is. It looks funy, the taste is surprisingly grand and, though it does take a while to prepare, is really delicious fun.

Cottage Dill Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2007
I LOVE this bread. Fresh it is wonderful and toasted, if there is any left, just as good. I have not felt the need to change anything, except on accasion increase the onion and dill by 1/2. But it is easy, fast and a great gift.

Scones

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2013
This makes one VERY LARGE BATCH, be prepared. One recommendation suggested 3 tea of baking powder & 2 tea of baking soda, & adding one egg with enough milk to make 1 Cup. The consistency was great. I added 3/4 C walnuts & 3/4 C cranberries. I did pat it out and it was too soft to cut so I froze it for 10 minutes & it sliced perfectly. Cut into 12 scones the servings were a more reasonable size and calorie value. Will make again, but probably half the recipe next time. They puffed up so beautifully!

Southern-Style Neck Bones

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2013
I thought this was a really good recipe but you have to remember this is for people that really really like to play with their food! There is a lot of glorious picking and delicious tidbits of flavorful meat but it takes time and patence; perfect for long chatty meals. I too added peppers (2 bird peppers finely chopped with seeds) and a stick of cinnamon. Loved it

Self Frosting Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: May 24, 2013
I LOVE these cookies. I see someone mentioned they were too sweet, well you just need to skip rolling them in powdered sugar but to me they are great just as is. All I did differently was added dried cranberries and followed the recipe exactly. I think I will make them with margarine next time. I calculated it out and they are about 120 calories each. These are a keeper and I will make frequently.

Naan

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2013
This is a nice treat and other than the time involved is fairly simple. If I could I would avoid the sugar, ut it is absolutely necessary for the raising of the dough. I put 2 cups of water in a glass container into the microwave and heat it for 2 minutes. Leave the water in the oven, turn the microwave off and put the bread inside to "proof". It stays warm just long enough to do the trick

Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2012
Good, simple recipe. The only change I made was to add ground allspice and I did not have any of the vanilla flavored coffee creamer but I didn't miss it.

St. Louis Toasted Ravioli

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2012
Tried this mainly as written: just adding a substanticl amount more flavorings such as cheese, Adobo seasoning and additional garlic powder to kick up the flavor. The second half I added chopped dried hot peppers- I served them as a large pile of appetizers with several bowls of differing sauces from anchovie to salsa for dipping. It was quite a hit and I was happy to tell those that requested the recipe to get it at Recipes.com

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2012
this was fool-proof. Even the aroma of vinegar disappated quickly and these were light and lovely. The only thing I did was half the recipe, just enough for me for dinner. I used the whole egg. This one is printed out and stuck to the back of a cabinet door

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2007
This is one easy fix and the bread comes out beautifully. It is much fluffier than store brands and my friends love it. I have also added dried onion flakes and or dill for a nice change. Easy to do, really and fun to see puffed up so nicely
