About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new recipes, but also cooking old family favorites like Zucchini Crescent Pie.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hanging out in the kitchen with Grandma (30-40 years ago) and later teaching my daughter to love her culinary creations.
My cooking triumphs
Making a vegetarian dish for guests and having one of those guests who loudly proclaims to not eat veggies ask for seconds. He thought my tofu was ricotta or another cheese. I didn't dare tell him he was eating tofu. Now, I love meat, but what really makes me happy is when I can broaden the culinary horizons of others who think they won't eat -xx- and making it in a way that they want more.
My cooking tragedies
Eggplant. I've made three different eggplant dishes in the last 30 years and each one has been so bad that I've taken a bite and thrown it out. (I rarely throw out anything, so they were really awful.) Eggplant is the one challenge I intend to master in the next two years.

Cold Szechuan Noodles and Shredded Vegetables
I have made this recipe for potlucks, for company, for the family, and for friends. It always gets rave reviews. Many times, I do add a few more sweet pepper (red and yellow) than the recipe calls for, but I follow the rest of the directions to the letter. It really does need to marinate at least six hours or overnight.
