Strawberry Torte

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
Great recipe! I made this for Easter and everyone wanted the recipe. A couple of notes...lady finger are really light. I bought 2 (3oz) packages of them. I can't imagine how big a 12 oz package would be! That was plenty for the crust and sides. I skipped the ladyfingers in the middle and instead added some of the strawberry sauce to the middle. I added a little sugar to my strawberry sauce and 2 tbl cornstarch but otherwise followed the recipe.

Easy Morning Glory Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
I made these yesterday. I was looking for creative ways to slip more vegetables into the family's diet. They are really good. Even the picky teenagers loved them. I substituted 1/2 of the oil with applesauce, added some vanilla. I think next time I'll replace half of the flour with whole wheat.

Easy Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
I happened to have everything on hand one snowy day before Christmas so I added these to the boxes of cookies I was sending out. They were everyone's favorites. I've made them several times since. They always turn out great. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
I tried this recipe when I was missing an ingredient for my old tried and true recipe. I added vanilla and sprinkled the tops with a brown sugar/cinnamon mix. It was nice and moist. The recipe was enough for 2 mini loaves and 5 muffins. I add mini chocolate chips to the muffins. Muffins baked 25 minutes, the mini loaves about 40. Thanks for the recipe.

Holly Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2007
I couldn't find my holly cookie recipe and needed to check online for the marshmallow/butter ratio. We always use mint extract though instead of vanilla. I've tried many times to make them into actual wreaths but always end up making holly "clumps"! I use red hot sometimes and red mini M&Ms sometimes. Put them on tinfoil that has been sprayed or buttered. Pop them into the freezer for a while before removing. I store them in the freezer to. That way there are some left! My daughter loves to be involved and put the candies on. It makes it easier having extra hands. Thanks for submitting the recipe.

Best Ever Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2007
When I first tried this recipe I made it with blueberries tossed with a little corn starch, to keep them from falling to the bottom, lemon zest and vanilla. I also sprinkled a little sugar on top. They were good. I was going to give this recipe a three star rating but I decided to try something else. I made apple cinnamon. I added a tsp of vanilla and about a 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to the batter. I grated one small tart apple then diced another 1 1/2 apples. I tossed the diced apples with brown sugar as suggested by someone here and sprinkled the tops with a cinnamon sugar. I made a mistake this time and baked them at 350 for the first 25 minutes then remembered they should be at 400. I upped the heat until the tops browned. They were perfect and moist. I can't keep my family out of them! Thanks for the recipe. Can't wait to find more interesting combos.

I made this last night. I added some garlic to it. I used half beef half turkey burger and baked the meatballs for a bit as several people suggested and used orzo pasta. It was wonderful. I will definately make it again.

Cola Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2006
My daughter is taking a cooking class in school and chose this recipe to try. She read the reviews and decided to sear the chops first and change the catsup to half catsup/ half BBQ sauce from the reviews. We also added some garlic powder and onions to the mix. She baked it for 45 minutes at 350. It was good. We all liked it.

Salmon Cakes I

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2006
I made this tonight. I changed things a bit. Instead of canned salmon,I used some salmon that I had in the freezer, marinated it in a garlic herb marinade and baked it. I didn't use as much potato as the recipe called for. I also added some garlic, onion and dill to the recipe. It was good. Next time I want to make a spicy sauce/salsa to serve with it.

Shrimp Fra Diavolo

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2006
I've made this dish several times with some changes. I use less garlic, add in basil and sometimes oregano. I use white wine instead of red. I also use a little less pepper flake but use one can of regular tomatoes and one with diced chilis. I've had several rave reviews from friends who've had it here. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

I added a little dill to the sauce, and sliced the chicken into strips before marinading and grilling. It was great. I think I will add Thyme next time. Even my picky eaters liked this one. Thanks for sharing Connie!

Chicken and Rice Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2002
This recipe was all right. I used basmati rice, it cooked through but the dish was a little dry. If I make this again I will use less rice and less onion soup mix.
