White Chocolate Blondies

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2002
I had a get together and I made five different desserts (White chocolate Blondies, Autumn Cheescake, Caramel Brownies II, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Cinnamon Coffee Cake II). This one was the big hit. I even had people ask me for the recipe, even email me later to get it from me. It isn't very sweet and the mixture of the two chocolates is very nice. I did use the bitter sweet chocolate and added extra. It is very easy to make. I used the microwave versus the double boiler to melt the chocolate. NO Problems.

Cinnamon Coffee Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2002
I have made similar cakes like this before. The butterscotch pudding does give it a darker color and adds a little bit compared to all vanilla. When it says to pour half the cake mix in and then half the cinammon mixture in, I made four total layers. This makes the cinammon and sugar layer thinner and not over powering. I only used about 3/4 of the mixture and it was plenty sweet.

Caramel Brownies II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2002
These are increadably sweet and rich brownies. I made these for a get together, along with 4 other desserts, and I was one of the only ones to eat them, they don't have sweet tooths. For those who have a Sweet tooth these are for you, other wise you will not like them. They are very easy to make. I did not use a double boiler. I just microwaved the caramels. I did not use nuts, they aren't needed!!!

Autumn Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2002
I wasn't overly impressed but my guests seemed to have liked it along with my husband (Only 2 pieces left). I made a total of five different desserts ( Autumn cheescake, chocolate chip cookies, caramel brownies II, Cinnamon Coffee Cake II, and White chocolate blondies (everyones favorite that night)). The problems I ran into is I didn't know how long to cook it and if it was done. I ended up cooking it for 70 minutes and then put it in the refridge for the next day. The middle was still runny when I cut into it the next day. But the flavor was nice. I did end up using 1 extra cream cheese, 1 extra egg, 1/4 cup extra sugar, and vanilla. Plus I did put a layer on top of the crust and also on top of the cream cheese part. Plus I mixed some in with the cheese cake mixture. The crust was very easy to do. I never have made a crust like this. Don't let that intimidate you from making this it took 2 minutes!!!! The hardest part was peeling and cutting the apples, which when it is all done the apples are crisp (if you don't like crisp apples in your cheese cake you may want to cook them before putting them in your cake). So, very easy to make. Putting the pan of water in when cooking made it so it didn't crack. The nice thing about this cheesecake is that it wasn't overly sweet. For me it was just right in the sweetness area. Since everyone seemed to like this cheesecake, I would make it again!

Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2002
I made these for a group of teenage girls who all said that these were great. My friend who helped me make them even wanted this recipe to replace here usual recipe. I thought they were pretty good. But unfortunatly I really like a more buttery falvored cookie than these were. I did use butter flavored crisco but it didn't take the lack of butter away. These cookies are nice and soft. I do like having more brown sugar than white sugar, I like the flavor better. When I make these again I will probably modify it a bit and add both shortening and butter (only a 1/3 or 1/4 of what it calls for will be butter until I find the right mix for me) this will hopefully give me the butter flavor I like and still keep them softness that I also like. I have now made it with regular crisco, the flavor isn't all that. Plus make sure the crisco hasn't be sitting around the house too long, that will make the flavor even worse!!!

Curried Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
Me and a friend decided to do an Indian dinner night. Out of the 3 different recipes we made this was by far the best. We put more lentils in and carrots in and a little less water. You could also add spinach. But it was nice and flavorfull. Make sure you have a nice strong chicken broth or else the flavor might not be as nice.

Sherry Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
This was a very bland dish. While it was cooking it smelled wonderful. But the smell didn't seem to match the tast. I made this along with Spinach and lentel side dish plus a curry lentil soup. This was by far the least flavorfull. I would try something else next time. But it smells great!!!

Egg-Free Low-Fat Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
For what they are, they are not bad. My friend is on a diet so I thought I would surprise her with these. She liked them. I ended up putting mini chocolate chips in them. For someone not on a diet I would go back to regular Oatmeal cookies. For me they just were not sweet enough. They are a cakee type of a cookie. But you would expect that with apple sauce!

Yellow Angel Food Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2003
This cake is more like a sponge cake. I think I would make it again but I would need to add some flavor to it. I think I probably would add some vanilla and either some orange or lemon zest or juice to it and reduce the amount of water to make up for the juice I add to it.

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2004
It tastes just fine, a light pumpkin flavor. If I make it again I would definatly use more pumpkin. Plus this is more like a cake then bars. The cream cheese frosing was great, but I also don't have any other cream cheese frosting recipe. I ended up doubling the cream cheese!!! I made it again and it worked great 1/2 cup apple sauce and 1/2 cup oil. Plus I used 1/2 cup wheat flour and 1 1/2 cup flour. Added ginger and nutmeg to add more flavor. Would use those changes again. Probably next time I would use splenda instead of sugar to reduce the calories even more.

I have now used this recipe about 3 times. It is very easy and you can really use any berry you would like. You can regulate how sweet you would like it easily too....

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2004
This was definatly over rated. The reason why I gave it as 2 star is because 3 stars is average and I may use the recipe again. This recipe I will not use again. I would try another pound cake recipe. For me it was way too sweet and it didn't taste buttery, how I like my pound cakes to taste. Plus it is not worth the calories! I would much rather eat something else with all those calories and fat!! The one good thing about this cake was that it tastes better as it ages. Another words wait a couple of days and then serve it.

Chocolate Bar Fondue

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2004
This is a nice basic chocolate recipe. I have used similar over the years and just needed the basic portions of chocolate to cream. I used semi-sweet chocolate chips (24 oz) and 1 cup heavy whipping cream and a little vanilla. I did not use the coffee, I am sure it would taste great with it but with company I wasn't sure if everyone liked coffee. And I didn't add the extra surar. We dipped pound cake, strawberries, marshmellows, banannas, apples, and pretzels (not a big winner). If your fondue winds up a little thick add a little heavy whipping cream and thin it to the consistancy you like. If it is too thin add more chocolate!!!

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2004
It is nice to have a quiche without a crust. It was just great. Everyone really liked it. This is a nice vercitile recipe where you can really add whatever you like. To reduce the calories you can use low fat cottage cheese and it works just as well....I will use this recipe again!!!

Chicken Monterey

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2004
It was more on the salty side than I like. But everyone seemed to like it. My husband would like me to make it again. I doubled the mushroom mixture and used half the amount of chicken and we still wanted more of the sauce mixture. Next time I will triple the mushroom mixture. I only used 2 Tbls of butter (one for each frying). Next time I probably wont use any and just use cooking spray.

Walnut Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2004
I have only tried this once and I used it with a tripleberry pie filling (I would not suggest this crust for that). It is a great crust and I want to use it again with a chocolate pie filling or maybe even apple... I like the nuts!

Challah I

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2004
It was good not great. For me it seems like it is missing something (my memory of good challa was at my grandma's house), I am not sure what! Cook time was only 20 minutes. When I make it again I think I will add a bit more honey and an extra egg. But, it is very easy to make. Me and my twin 3 year olds were able to make it with no problems....I made it again with an extra egg in the dough and it was wonderful....
