Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2011
This was delicious. I've made this numerous times "as is" and it's perfect. I've also made it several times using Corinne's suggestions and it too is fantastic. Honestly, for me, it depends when I'm making it. If I'm throwing it together before work I do the easy "as is" version. If I have extra time I do Corinne's. While the two do taste different, they are both delicious in their own way. Definitely a keeper!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2011
This was very good. I did add a teaspoon of poultry seasoning, a teaspoon of pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. I also used chicken broth instead of water. I used 1 can of grands biscuits. I rolled each biscuit to flatten and then I used a pizza cutter to slice them into strips. One can was plenty and left just enough gravy to make it perfect. Thank you for sharing.

Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2011
Delicious. I followed the recipe exactly ingredients wise. I then did the same as another suggestion and used half the dough and placed in the butter on the bottom of the pan. Sprinkled with a cinnamon sugar mix and covered with the berries. I then put the remaining dough slices on top and sprinkled again with cinnamon and sugar. FANTASTIC!!!!

Guacamole

The cilantro gives it a nice flavor, but the SALT is WAYYYY too much. I'm going to make this again and use only 1/4 teaspoon and start from there.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
I think this is great; HOWEVER, I prefer a more sweet taste over the vinegar taste. I doubled the molasses, brown sugar, butter, and spices. I did 6 teaspoons of the liquid smoke. I rated it 5 stars because it was good the way it was, I just prefer a molasses base instead of a vinegar base.

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
I omitted the corn starch and added a can of cream of chicken soup and a can of cream of celery soup. I've made this a few times now. The first time I thought it was bland, so I tried adding the cream soups for both flavor and as a thickening agent and it made it delicious!

Spaghetti Sauce II

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
As with many others, I gave this five stars because it is a great starter recipe. I had to doctor this up throughout the cooking process (simmered for 3 hours as called for) by adding equal parts of water and red wine. I also added sugar throughout as we like our sauce tangy with a sweet aftertaste. I added a sweet yellow pepper and mushrooms to give it more "meat" since I was not using the sausage (was using for chicken parm). After about cooking for an hour I mashed the tomatoes to make the consistency more "choppy". Overall a great recipe as is, I just doctored up for personal preference taste.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
This is great. I recommend cooking your onions and celery in a bit of butter to ensure that they are very soft. I feel it also enhances the flavor of the soup. I too used chicken stock instead of water and granules and it was delicious. Thanks for sharing!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2010
I'm giving this 5 stars b/c it was easy; however, I've never cooked the spices and mix - simply add to the crockpot. I used beef broth in place of the water and used 3 packets of the Italian seasoning mix. I put two packets in with the roast (used 6 lbs as this was for a tailgate) when I first put it on and cooked it on low for 8 hours. I then shredded, removed the access fat, and put back in the crock pot and added an onion and another packet of the dry Italian seasoning mix and cooked another hour. I served on french bread and had provolone cheese available. This was a huge hit at the game!

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Great marinade! I actually doubled the marinade and let chops sit overnight. We then cooked on the grill and they came out delicious. Definitely will make again and bake during the winter months. Thanks for sharing!

Home Style Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
I found this to be perfect. I did follow the advice of others and only use 1/2 cup of bread crumbs and used about 12 oz of macaroni, otherwise I left everything the same. Delicious!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Delicious meatballs. I made according to directions with the exception that I used 1/2 pound lean ground beef and 1/2 pound of ground pork. I did this only b/c it is what I had on hand and have made it that way ever since. Delic!

This is the SAME receipe on the bag of chips only doubled with a box of instant pudding added in. My mom's been adding in the pudding since I was a kid. Adding french vanilla pudding is best!

Hot Artichoke Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2010
This is the same receipe I've been using for years, but I add 1 package of softened cream cheese, 1 tbl spoon of lemon juice, and 1/2 tsp of salt. I tried this receipe as shown and it was not creamy enough w/out the cream cheese.

Chicken Parmigiana

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
Very good. I use Panko breadcrumbs and season with basil, parsley, garlic powder, and sea salt. I also dip the chicken in flour, then egg, then the breadcrumb mixture. I typically fry my chicken but decided to bake and was amazed at how juicy and crispy it turned out, not to mention the amount of fat ane calories saved by not frying. Definitely a keeper. Thanks for sharing!

Stromboli

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
I've been making this for years. I've read a lot of reviews where people complained the dough was soggy. The key is to put in a layer of cheese, then your toppings, a spoonful of sauce, then more cheese. The cheese melts and makes a barrier for the sauce. Also, be careful not to get the sauce near the edges or the dough won't seal!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: May 17, 2008
These were great. I do like my snickerdoodles chewy in the middle, so I used all butter instead of the shortening (as per another review) and they were perfect. Definitely the best snickerdoodle recipe I've tried!
