Sloppy Joes II
It was easy to make and tasty, but I also tweaked the recipe. I used some BBQ sauce, which has some sugar, as does the ketchup. I used a little brown sugar, also. I thought it needed a little heat, to counteract all the sweet elements. I added a few drops of tabasco sauce and a bit of chili powder. It did not make it very spicy, but I thought the flavor was more balanced.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp
I did not have plain tomato sauce, so I used a tomato and basil pasta sauce, which worked fine. I also had large frozen shrimp already prepared to be grilled, and did not need skewers. The shrimp were very tasty, and we liked the cayenne bite.

Turkey Brine
I brined a basic frozen Butterball and it was moist and not too salty. First, I made my own vegetable broth, and did not add any salt to it. A canned broth will already have a significant level of sodium, I also cut down on the salt, and used about 2/3 cup. I used fresh thyme and some dried rosemary, and added some apple cider. The turkey came out very juicy and flavorful, and the gravy was also perfect with no added salt.
