Instant Yeast Rolls

Oh my. This is fabulous. Im not sure what was done to make some people think these taste like biscuits....but they are melt in your mouth yummy! I cut them thicker and didnt add any butter till they were done then just brushed some over the tops... we will be eating these often!! Fast and easy! (and I subbed milk/vinegar for the buttermilk, too).

Sweet and Sour Sauce II

This recipe is awesome! I used pickle juice because I didnt have any vinegar on hand and used 4 tablespoons of flour (wisked in 1/2 the warm water) because I didnt have corn starch. Also pureed regular pineapples (not from a can). Fantastic!

Hamburger Gravy

Great basic recipe! Used garlic powder instead of onion and added a dash or Worcestershire sauce! Yum! We had ours over steamed rice and steamed veggies!!!

Italian Teething Cookies

I rolled and cut these before leaving them over night as someone suggested and they did turn out pretty hard. Not the most glamorous looking cookie but that will come with multiple tries (I didnt want the flat cookies in the photo as it was to fit in the baby's mouthand grasp!). The baby, my 12 year old and I love these. They taste like the sugar ice cream cones. Added a teaspoon of vanilla! The dough wasn't sticky or hard to work with at all maybe it is all about beating it longer? A+

Black Chocolate Cake

After years (I added it to my box in 2003), this is still my favorite cake ever. It comes out perfect everytime and is almost too rich even for frosting. I often just put some powedered sugar on it or ice it with raspberry preserves instead of frosting. I usually make it as is unless I am out of cocoa powder... it comes out great with four squares of melted unsweetened baking chocolate. I always use shortening -- made it with butter before but it isnt the same melt-in-your-mouth texture -- try butter flavor shortening if that is your thing. Everyone I make it for is in love with it. Some hints... make sure you acutally boil the shortening in the water and add it to the dry mix -- no cheating! And use a spoon, not a mixer. I also sometimes add cinnamon to it for a spicier taste. Spicy Chocolate Cake

I kind of varied from this....we are not into Jalapenos...but I added a teaspoon of nutmeg and cinnamon...and it became the best tasting chocolate spice cake I have ever eaten in my life!!!

Aunt Mary's Vanilla Frosting

This was an awesone recipe....I almost didnt want to put it on the cake...I did vary a little though...I added about and extra teaspoon of vanilla and used butter flavored shortening....Everyone loved it!!! Only problem is that you have to keep the cake refridgerated so it doesnt melt...the taste and consistancy was awesome though....I would recomend to anyone!!
