Jemput Jumput (Banana Fritters)

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
i had 3 very ripe bananas & no eggs or milk. this was a perfect recipe to put them to use, i just halved this recipe. i did add some cinnamon & vanilla extract. i also fried them in coconut oil. they came out well. i bet they'd be awesome with blue bell homemade vanilla ice cream, but i was not hungry when i made these. after taking out the oil i did spread some of my raw cinna honey. they were good & worth making! next time i'll make sure i'm craving sweet food & have ice cream before making them again.

Fideo (Mexican Spaghetti)

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
i grew up eating fideo as a side dish, mostly with mole. i've never had cheese on it though. i finally made it my first time, but almost as if i was making my spanish rice, but sub'd fideo noodles. i browned the onion and 2 garlic cloves, then brown the noodles. i added chicken flavored bullion to my water and seasoned with seasonings listed plus cayeene pepper, garlic powder. i also added mushrooms since i needed to get rid of them before going bad. my first try taste better than any other fideo i've had before. i put mine in tortillas with crema and queso fresco, an idea i got from a cooking show.

Cheese's Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
this is my favorite recipe, i grew up with this mac n cheese & been making it since i was 11. this is actually from a betty crocker cook book that gives add-in ideas & my mom always added the sausage with broccoli or peas. topped with diced tomatoes is good, sprinkled with cayenne or paprika.

Cake Mix Cookies IV

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2011
this is a simple cookie recipe if this is what you need! they do taste different. like a cake, moist. i used a yellow cake batter & mixed in white chocolate chips. **TIP** for those who find the batter too sticky to ball up or touch, just stick it in the fridge for about 20-30min to solidify. easier & less mess! i also had to leave the cookies for 11-12min.

Yeast Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
i was really excited to try this out because i love yeast flavor, but these taste too yeasty & bland. i read some reviewers 'doubled' the sugar. i halved this recipe, but i did use 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp sugar. 2 tsp of almond extract & some blueberries. i did enjoy the other qualities like the thickness, denseness, texture. these were heavy pancakes, so i could only eat 2 when others i eat 3-4. i will try this recipe again, but i will attempt to balance out the yeast flavor by adding at least 1/2 cup of sugar (i don't like sugary things, but this really needs more than 2tsp of sugar!!)

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
these are simple, but amazingly yummy! if you can just imagine the flavors, then this is definitely your recipe. i am doing a cleanse this week where i can not eat meat & this is satisfying! i halved the recipe & got 11 burritos using 'fajita' sized tortillas. i also didn't have much cheese, so only 2 made it. they taste good with or with out. i used 1 can of red kidney beans, 1 can of white kidney beans. i started slowly adding the water by the 1/2 cup after reading it was too much. i used less than a cup, but add up to your desired consistency. i also added more cayenne since i love spicy food & i am the only one eating these. the only other thing that would've made them better is if i had some pico de gallo & guacamole. i ate 2 for dinner, packed 2 for lunch & froze the rest for this week. i am anxious to try them later as some food taste better the next day after marinating in their flavor.

Impossible Buttermilk Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2011
i made this after looking for recipes that used buttermilk. i had no idea what a simple recipe like this would taste like. i added 1 tsp of vanilla & 2 tsp of sweet almond extract. i also did not have a 9inch pie pan, so i used my 8x8 pan & cooked for 40min. the taste was really good & it took me awhile to figure out what it taste like. it taste like flan! i love how the texture changes thru out the pie, but it is the same mixture through out. if i made it again now knowing what it taste like, i'd add some caramel.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
it was alright. i thought the taste would be really good, but it's just ok. maybe i'm use to cheesecake w/o flour &/or sour cream. i'm use to that creamy rich cheese flavor, which does not come out in this recipe. the last few cheesecakes i've eaten were from cheesecake factory, so maybe i just feel downgraded... if you've had cheesecake factory cheesecake, you KNOW what i'm talking about!! anyways, my cake did not have a crack at 1st, but after cooking on my oven and banging my spoon onto the pot hard a few time (forgetting the cake was still right under), i look & CRACK! oh well, it was covered up with strawberry sauce & strawberries & did not affect the flavor.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
my Shepard's pie was the best! it probably modified a lot though. after seeing comments about the blandness of the meat... i thought 'meatloaf', but quick & fast. i bought McCormick meatloaf seasoning & followed directions on the pack, but i sub'd buttermilk for milk, & panko for bread crumbs & also put about 1/2 cup of onions & 3tbps of Worcestershire sauce. i spread flat onto 13" baking dish & cooked for 30min. i ground the meatloaf and spread even. for veggies, i used fresh carrots & green beans, boiled. i layered these onto the meat. i made a packet of beef gravy, poured on top veggies. sprinkled cheese on top, then layer my favorite slow cooker sour cream & cream cheese mashed potatoes (made day before) on top, sprinkled more cheese and a little bit of cayenne pepper for color & flavor. my boyfriend LOVED it & is asking when i'm making it again. he just said next time put more meat & veggies, so i'll use 2lbs. of beef next time & use corn.

i cooked these at 450 degrees & at 22 minutes they were already getting black... not so much burned, but next time i will try cooking them at a lower temp.

Baked Salmon Fillets Dijon

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2012
i did not like this. i don't know why i tried it out, i wasn't even in the mood for the ingredients, but regardless i scraped the topping off my fillet. i'm usually very unpicky, but maybe the crust didn't crust enough & the mustard made it taste salty. i am not a fan of salty at all & i'm pregnant, so everything taste saltier.
