Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2003
FANTASTIC and easy! I'm not a big fan of red meat but this was pretty good. My bf is in love :) I marinated it in homemade teriyaki sauce overnight in the slow cooker pot (from the recipe Baked Teriyaki chicken) with cuts in the surface of the roast. Then the next day, I pan seared it with some oil and pepper. I also left the teriyaki sauce in the slow cooker when adding the rest of the sauce. I used about 1.5 cans (campell's) of water with 2 (21 oz) cans of soup. Added lots of veges in the last half hour of cooking - onions, canned diced tomatoes, broccoli, potatoes :)

Almond-Crusted Halibut Crystal Symphony

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2003
The sauce is great! I didn't enjoy the fish with the almonds. The almonds tasted funny but I adored the sauce, I just scraped off the top. Next time, I might toast the thinly sliced type almonds with a bit a sugar to caramelize it and see.

Tiramisu Cheesecake

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2003
Great cheesecake! I loved the ladyfingers crust :) But I added 8 Tablespoons coffee liqueur into the crust and 8 into the cake and the flavor is still too subtle for me, I had to serve it with coffee liqueur on the side. I would recommend adding more coffee liqueur especially in the cake part because it tasted almost like a ny cheesecake. Still very good though. I used half fat free cream cheese which made it lighter :) My boyfriend adores cheesecakes and thought it was good but prefers real tiramisu or the Irish cream cheesecake on this website :)

Fantastic! :) Left it in the fridge for a month! YUM! Used it for tiramisu cheesecake and plan to use it for more baked goods and mixed drinks!

Baked Seafood Au Gratin

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2003
Pretty good :) My roomie and my bf loved it :) I made it low fat, with fat free cheddar, skim milk, non fat margerine. I didn't use scallops but doubled on the fish. I tend to think that the creamy texture masked the flavor of the shrimps, but it went with the crabmeat really well :)

Chocolate Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2002
if i were just making this for myself, i would have added cocoa, but i omitted it b/c i think most people prefer without (I LOVE chocolate!) i used brown sugar instead of white and dusted the bottom with brown sugar/cinnamon mixture before pouring in batter, i don't have loaf pans so just used a 9 by 13 baking tray. I used a whole 16 oz container of fat free sour cream, and used all other fat free products like egg beaters, free promise :)

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2002
used brown sugar instead of white, and used all fat free products (my friends are health conscious) and added 2 cups of chocolate chips! Yum :) I didn't enjoy it as much as most people, but that might be b/c I only like chocolatey desserts :)

Banana Banana Bread

Combined this recipe with the banana sour cream bread for a winner - added 1 container of fat free sour cream, and used all fat free products (my friends are health conscious) and added 2 cups of chocolate chips! Yum :) I didn't enjoy it as much as most people, but that might be b/c I only like chocolatey desserts :)

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2002
maybe it's just me but i didn't really like this, it is definitely already sweet enough without icing....and i made it fat free with free products and it was soft when it first came out of the oven but turned hard quickly, but that might be b/c i used fat free ingredients. other people liked it enough.

Apple Strudel Muffins

fantastic! Made it with apples, craisins (double the amount of the fruit filling) and scattered walnuts on top!!! :) I made it once with peach but my bf prefers the apple/craisins (dried cranberries) better b/c it has a tart taste! :) Made it fat free with free Promise margerine and fat free other ingredients too....also added skim milk 1/2 cup and a few dollops of free sour cream :)

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2002
FABULOUS! If you love peanut butter like me you'll LOVEEEEEEEEE this, i couldn't wait for it to freeze, I sneaked some of the soft stuff and it's soooooooo good! I made it with lite cool whip, reduced fat peanut butter (only 2/3 of the amount called for as well to cut down on the fat), skim milk and fat free cream cheese! PHENOMENAL! Warning: only if you love peanut butter though!

Fish Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2002
Recipe is a pretty decent chowder. Nice and hearty. I added a can of clams which had use in it. Since I didn't have chicken stock - I used condensed cream of chicken soup. It was decent but I still prefer New England's clam chowder :)

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2002
Everyone seemed to like it. Maybe I just don't like pumpkin pie but it wasn't my kind of dessert! Probably b/c it wasn't chocolate! :) I baked it for 30 mins after sprinkling on the topping and it was plenty!!!!! Watch the time in the oven. I thought the spices were too strong but if you like cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin type spices you'd like this pie :)

Fudge Truffle Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2002
I made this with free cream cheese and eggbeaters and only used less than 1 cup of choc chips. it was delicious but i prefer plain cheesecakes more i think. i liked the cheesecake topping on top of the brownie caramel cheesecake better i think! but that's probably just personal preference. if you like chocolate cheesecakes you might like irish cream cheesecake on this site more (my bf loves it) i had a bite and it seemed better than this one. but overall this is a good cheesecake :) if you make it with fat free products it's more mousse like - not as firm.

Deep Dark Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2002
THis is a nice recipes to try. I made it with free Promise margerine and skim milk and eggbeaters. I decreased the sugar to 1 and 2/3 cups but it still tasted kind of sugary...(I kind taste a hint of the grainy sugar in my mouth) not to say that it wasn't delicious. This is definitely sweeter than the Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake on this website - but I like that recipe more b/c it's more rich and chocolate like :)

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2002
Unbelievable when it's straight out of the oven - it's so light moist and not too heavy. I used free sour cream and I can't believe it's not butter instead of butter and eggbeaters and only one cup of mini chocolate chips nd it's just incredible when it's warm. When it cooled down, it wasn't as good, so I like to heat it up, b/c it just seemed like a super light chocolate cake - but that's also b/c I tried to make it low fat! :) Also I baked it at 325 for one hour and it was perfect :) I prefer this over the Deep Dark Chocolate Cake on this website. This cake is more chocolatey and richer and fluffier - not as sugary.

Blueberry Coffee Cake I

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2002
AMAZING!!!!!! Firstly I screwed up b/c I baked it in a 9 by 13 pan and misjudged the measurements - I thought 1.5 times the recipe woudl be sufficient but it wasn't - next time i'll try double the recipe. Also I used canned peaches sliced thinnly instead of blueberries :) I did put half the streudel in the middle - so then there wasn't enough on top - so the top layer came out swirled with the cake batter. My friend had some and said it is his FAVORITE out of everything I have ever baked including cheesecakes, cookies, cakes, pies!!!!!!! (I bake a lot - have made maybe 50 different things from this website :) But keep in mind that's b/c he doesn't like overly sweet desserts, chocolate, and adores cinnamon and peaches :) Also I made it low fat and low cholestrol by using "I can't believe it's not butter in place of butter, fat free milk and eggbeaters :) (b/c all my friends are complaining i'm making them fat with all my baking) and it turned out so well...i think it just gives it a lighter cake - not as dense and rich :) A definitely must try if you love fruit desserts! :)

Brownie Caramel Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2002
I think I must have done something really wrong, I was REALLY excited about making this dessert - only baked the brownie layer for 10 minutes at first but after it's baked with the cheesecake it came out really hard - and the caramel layer came out kind of slimey. I don't know if it's possible to bake brownies and cheesecake together - b/c the baking times are so different. I might try making it again but I enjoy both desserts separately :) Or perhaps I'll make the two separately and put then together after :) And plus I like my brownies to be warmed a little in the microwave and you can't do that with the cheesecake layer on top of it :)
