Jewish Grandma's Best Beef Brisket

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2013
I had never made a fresh beef brisket before. After searching the internet, came across this recipe. I read the reviews and got a little concerned when people said it needed more flavor. Here is what I did: Browned both sides of the brisket (it was a little over 4.4 lbs.). Mixed 2 packets of brown gravy mix with enough water to cover about 3/4 of the meat. Chopped the onions and garlic and mixed it with the liquid before pouring it over the top. Covered and cooked for a little over 2 hours. Maybe the heat was set too high because it was perfect at that time! Any longer and I think it would have become dry. My Husband couldn't get enough of it and kept saying it tasted like prime rib...silly Man :o)

Steak Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2012
I wanted to follow this recipe completely, but couldn't. I used cubed steak since it's what I had on hand. I cut it in thin strips as the recipe calls for. I didn't realize I was out of beef bouillon and didn't have any beef broth either. I substituted it with a cup of Progresso French onion soup, but followed the steps as if I was using beef bouillon. Let me tell you, this dish was amazing! There was not one spec of food left in the pan. Thank you SO much for sharing this recipe! I almost added the brown sugar as others suggested, but am glad I didn't! This was perfect :o)

Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
I made a batch of this fudge this morning. Since I'm not a big fan of peanut butter fudge, I had my Husband try it. He said it was creamy and delicious! So simple and easy to make too. I used others suggestion and did the 1, 2, 3 changes. I also used half creamy peanut butter and half extra crunchy... Perfect!!

Speedy Oven Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
I was looking for an easy chocolate fudge recipe to make for the holidays. The first batch of this I made, I realized when I was getting started that I didn't have enough confectioner's sugar. I had to then make half a batch. So sad because it was so delicious! Just got done making the full batch this time and can't wait to eat some more! I'll be sending a plate of it with my Husband when he goes to work today to give the guys a treat :o)

Low Fat Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
I had some leftover buttermilk, so searched allrecipes for "something" to make with it. My kids and I are salad lovers, so found this and thought, why not? I did add one additional ingredient; about 1/4 tsp. of granulated chicken bouillon. WOW! It added that one little something the dressing was lacking!! So glad I made this because I don't think I will ever buy salad dressing again! Thanks for another hit allrecipes :o)

Flavorful Beef Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
My family and I absolutely *love* this stir-fry!! It's such a versatile recipe since you can add any veggies you have on hand. 1 thing that we do is semi-freeze the meat before slicing it, so we can get it alot thinner which we prefer. We also like to let the meat marinate in the sauce for several hours in the refrigerator. Now my 22 year old son loves to treat the family by making this for us! Thanks for such a *yummy* recipe :o)

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2012
I feel I have made my share of banana bread through the years and tried a variety of recipes, but that stops here! This was the most amazing banana bread I have ever made or eaten! The only thing I did different was add shredded coconut instead of nuts (next time I am using nuts as well). It made 6 mini loaves and 6 muffins. Cooking it at 300 degrees took almost exactly 1 hour. I can't wait to go buy more bananas so I can make more :o)

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
I use boneless chicken breast cut into strips instead of using wings. We don't like a super hot sauce, so I used Crystal sauce. The flavor was just so awesome!! Since finding this recipe, I've made it 3 times; twice for my family and once for my Hubby to take to work for his shift (9 guys). Everyone raved about how good it is! I think I would rate this recipe a 10 if I could!!

Broccoli Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2007
I used cream of potato soup since that's all I had on hand. I added an 8oz. block of softened cream cheese to the soup/milk mixture. I sprinkled some salt, pepper and chicken flavor instant bouillon (to taste) on the top instead of the bread crumbs.I have to say, this dish was exceptional! My kids loved it. Next time I'll double the recipe so we can have leftovers.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2004
I had an 8 pound chicken instead of the 2-4 pounders. I didn't have onion powder, so used dried chives. Also I thought the 4 teaspoons of salt seemed like alot, so cut it back to 3 teaspoons. I rubbed some of the dry mix under the skin as well on the top and also sprinkled some on the inside before putting the onions in. I didn't realize it was supposed to be marinated for some time, but it still turned out moist, tender and flavorful. Everyone raved at how good it was. Thanks Sue for sharing this with us :o)

Whit's Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2004
I added about 1/4 cup (give or take) chopped onion to Step #3. I used 1 cup of sharp cheddar, 1/2 cup pepper jack and 1/2 cup mild cheddar. Also, I must have been blind because I couldn't see where the heavy cream was added (found it now though), so mixed it with the water. There was enough of the mixture left to spread on the top of rolls. Then I added the rest of the cheeses. My Husband has requested we add these to our weekly menu. Thanks for sharing this recipe :o)

Cheesy Vegetable Chowder

This recipe is wUnderful! We aren't big celery fans, so I omitted that. I used colby/jack cheese chunked instead which gave it a very nice taste. Everyone raved at how good it tasted. Will definitely make this one again.

Peanut Butter Pie V

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2003
I like to use creamy peanut butter instead of crunchy in this recipe. Also, after the pie is made, I drizzle chocolate over the top. The only way I could see that someone didn't like this recipe would be if they followed the directions wrong.

Cauliflower-Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2002
I modified this recipe a little. We don't care for celery, so I replaced it with broccoli. I also used cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. I used the hand mixer so the chunks of vegetables weren't so large. This has got to be one of the best soups I have eaten. Thanks for sharing it.
