Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2014
So easy to make, and you can adjust how spicy you want it by adding more or less jalapeños. I will make this again, and maybe play with using fresh roasted peppers. It's equally good with sourdough bread or tortilla chips.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2014
I love this sauce. It is so easy to make and always a crowd pleaser. I don't always follow the chicken part of the recipe, sometime I use chicken breasts and precook all the chicken and then pour the sauce over. And if I'm feeling extra fancy I pop it under the broiler for a couple seconds just to make everything sticky and delicious!!

Glossy Royal Icing

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2014
Worked beautifully and stayed glossy like stated. It took gel coloring well also. I put it into a squeeze bottle and let my kids go to town making free form stars to decorate our Dallas Cowboy cupcakes! I will use this recipe again!

Zucchini Brownies

The best part of this recipe is the frosting, it is so yummy. The cake part is just ok. I won't make again because the flavor is subpar.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2013
Made according to directions and it came out fine. Tasted like Cracker Jacks. It does however leave you with carmel sticking to your teeth which my husband hates so I will not make again.

Meh, not great but not bad. I'm not a fan of cookies made with melted butter.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2013
This is a great base recipe. The changes I made was to poach my chicken (bone in, skin on) in water with carrot, celery, peppercorns and bay leaves. Then when it was done poaching, cube it up and add to the veggie mixture right before pouring in the pie dish. From there, I sautéed the carrot, celery, onion for about 5 minutes on medium. Then add garlic and finish cooking veg till soft but with a bite left (I don't like mushy veggies). Sprinkle in 1/4c. flour (not 1/3c) and stired to combined. Then whisked in broth that I poached chicken in and the milk. Added 2 tsp. salt, poultry seasoning to taste and pepper. Once mixture had thickened I added the cube chicken and poured into the pie crust (as mentioned above) and topped with another crust. Brushed with some milk and popped into a 375 degree oven for 45 min.

Pastry Cream

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
This is easy and has a nice thick consistancy. You can add any extract you want to achieve a different flavor. I tried adding 3 rounded tablespoons of cocoa powder to the cornstarch mixture but it needed more for a bigger chocolate flavor. Next time I would add 4-5 tablespoons or even try adding melted chocolate in at the end when you add the butter and vanilla.

Guinness® Corned Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
This was so tasty. Everyone who ate went back for seconds and thirds. It takes longer to cook in a slow cooker so allot about 6+ hours for that. We added veggies in about 30-40 minutes before it was done. The cabbage was particularly delish. Can't wait to eat the left overs, and next time I will buy a larger cut of meat so there's more leftovers.

Flavors are good, but it is a lot of work and a little expensive. All in all the family enjoyed it, but it seems more of an every once in a while recipe.

Homemade Vanilla

What a great recipe. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I feel it takes 4-5 bean for a whole bottle of vodka. I purchased my beans on ebay in bulk and used tahitian and madagascar beans to make to different extracts. So fun to make on your own. I've been making my own extract for 3 yrs now and it's way less expensive than store bought. Next time I'm going to try it in bourbon.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
Have I said how much I love these! They are so simple to make and come out perfect everytime. If you don't like a sweet muffin cut back on the topping, however I can't live without a crumb topping. They freeze great and all you need to do is pop one into the microwave for 30 seconds or leave on the counter for 30 min. Awesome job Lisa!
