Pumpkin Roll I

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2002
This was wonderful, my family and friends loved it and it was simple! I have to add something to this....i used parchment paper in my pan also it worked great it made it easy to get the cake out, i did notice that if my cake wasnt quite done yet it would break after being rolled up but i used the filling to patch it and then roll it worked great! Also my family enjoyed it slightly frozen, i just put it in the freezer and then take it out when we want a quick desert, it does thaw and become moist its delicious either way....if you havent tried this recipe you should! Definetely freezing the roll after it is complete has worked for me the best, I'm able to slice it while frozen and then serve it thawed. works great! Also I just made some recently and I baked the cake in foil and then put parchment paper on top and rolled it, It does work great! I got this tip from another review.

Pickled Red Beet Eggs

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2003
These were so simple to make, I have been searching for a recipe to make these and Iam so glad that i used this one, I made them for my Father and he loved them they reminded him of the ones his late mother in law used to make, Now he cant get enough of them and of course now others in the family want to try them! Thank you so much for putting this recipe on here!!! You made it possible for me to give my Dad a little bit of the past! If anyone is looking to try and make pickled eggs you gotta try this recipe....It's just to simple!! A few tips that worked for me were putting approx. 6 eggs in a small wide mouth mason jar and then pouring the mixture over them also i have been doubling the mixture i get about 4-5 jars that way also i dont use all the beets i just put as many of them that will fit in the jar, then i just let them sit in the refrigerator, my dad is my taste tester he said the best ones were the ones that were in the frig for 4 weeks the longer they sit they do taste better!

This recipe was so good and easy to make. I made the skins ahead of time and then just cooked them with the filling later that day-delicious!! oh and i put ranch dressing in each skin before i put in the cheese and bacon bits....They were a big hit at my superbowl party, they were gone in a matter of minutes!

Berry Shooters

I Make these for parties, they really lighten up a party! I have used rum and vodka in mine before and they are awesome, the best jello flavor we have found to use lately is "watermelon" we mix it with the rum! excellent! I also use the plastic cups but if i dont have them i use dixie cups!

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
These were a little time cosuming but worth making! I made chocolate with chocolate and then dipped them in white chocolate and also made strawberry with cream cheese and then dipped them in chocolate. Some tips I found helpful don't break the cake when it firsts comes out because it seems gooey when you mix it with the frosting and takes longer to set, I actually allowed my first batch to sit in the refrigerator overnight and they came out perfect! also instead of using a melon baller my Mom and I both used a ice cream scoop. I used a small one and she used a medium sized one and they came out perfectly shaped. I will definetely be making these again.

Kolachky

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
This recipe brought back memories, My Grandma would make these for us on special occasions, No one could make them as perfectly as she could but this recipe came very close, My Mom and I enjoyed making them and Thank you for sharing it! A few tips, We cut ours out with a diamond shaped cookie cutter but found that the tops popped out if not pinched closed tightly so we used a glass instead and I believe this was the trick becuase they came out bigger and you were able to pinch the top easier and they did not pop open during baking, Course as my Mom says "Grandma would never let me pinch the tops because they would open up and she would gently say "honey let me do them". Also we used canned poppyseed filling and Almond paste, The almond paste is definetely a favorite. I would make these again with my family just to bring an old tradition back into the family.
