About this Cook
Hello! I work in the health and fitness industry as a professional bellydancer and I also own and operate a massage and wellness business. My clients frequently ask me advice on nutrition and recipes to make their lives healthier and easier. I discovered this website a while back and fell in love!
My favorite things to cook
Soups have always been a favorite of mine! I love the process of it and I prefer that whatever I cook it needs to be completely from scratch, no bouillon no mixes, no food additives. Since starting my business the slow cooker has been my new best friend and more recently I've discovered the joys of baking. I used to hate baking but I think maybe that's because it was never my forte but I made my new year's resolution to learn to make bread and that has kind of opened up a whole new world.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up cooking in the kitchen with my mom. On the weekends when she was home from work she'd always have on some cooking shows and she'd plan out a whole menu for the week and we would spend the entire weekend in the kitchen cooking and trying new things.
My cooking triumphs
Lots and lots of things on this list and more to come for sure. My favorite thing I make is chicken soup. Basic, I know, but it's my favorite. My Pumpkin spice bread was a surprise hit. It was one of my first baking attempts at something that was seemingly more complex than cookies.
My cooking tragedies
Champagne risotto. I have yet to master the art of risotto but this was a definite disaster. It was a recipe I got out of a magazine and I adore champagne but unfortunately for me this did not work out.

Grandmother's Pound Cake II
Awesome! I cut the recipe in half and added a half tsp of vanilla extract. I used 3 - 5x3 loaf pans and baked for 35-40 min and it turned out fantastic!

Beef Stew IV
I thought this recipe was pretty good, it had all the basics but I made a few changes. I started by making a roux to thicken the sauce and then added the dredged beef to brown. I took others' advice and used beef broth. Instead of corn and carrots I did frozen mixed veggies (because that's what I had on hand) and doubled the garlic. I also used 2 bay leafs and added a medium pinch of dried thyme - not too much though. Turned out very well!
