Spaghetti Carbonara II

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
The reason that some of the eggs come out scrambled is because you are not "tempering" the eggs. Add a bit up the hot pasta water- just a tablespoon or two to the egg mixture very slowly and you will not have that problem. Good recipe

Baked Ziti III

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
I do like using the sour cream instead of riccota-it's a texture thing. Great dish to serve to a crowd and I can prepare it in advance shich allows me to enjoy time with my guests. Thank you.

Christmas Walnut Toffee

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
Very nice recipe, but it does take some experience to make this type of candy, If you are inexperienced like GAMSJAGER you may want to try making something for the simple such as the pudding poke cake that you rave about- bleh. Thank you for posting this one, it looks lovely as well.

Vanilla Crepes

Very Good. I added a bit more milk to thin the batter, but that's just personal preference.

Very good, but I may saute the onions next time. Nice side dish to serve with ham.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2007
I had lots of half used bags of different flavored chips and sought a recipe to use them up, this was perfect. I doubled the recipe (glad I did) and added a combo of vanilla, semisweet and capuccino chips. The chocolate flavor was really intense. I will make these again & again. Thank you.

French Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2007
I love how smooth this frosting is and it's not too sweet. Used this on a sour cream white almond cake with raspberry filling. Happy with the results.

Grandma's Doughnuts

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2006
My mom made this and taught me this trick; cut the center out with a bottle cap (they used to be made of metal and that works better, but a plastic bottle cap still works). These are a very guilty pleasure, but if you don't have a heart attack and drop dead on the spot- you will want them again in a week or two. They taste great within thirty minutes, then not so good. The never have lasted 30 minutes in our house. We drain them on brown paper bags and then throw them ( 2 at a time)into another paper bag filled with powdered sugar and shake. These should come with a warning label. They are good though!

Baby BLT

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2006
Good with cream cheese & mayo. I inserted toothpicks into the bottom of the tomatoes and then stood them up on a styrofoam base, they looked good and had their own little handle.

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2006
I added some small quartered yukon gold potatoes instead of pasta and a can of S&W pinquito beans with their flavorful sauce instead of kidney beans. I also added frozen italian green beans instead of canned. Great soup! *using potatoes instead of pasta makes this gluten free.

Pineapple Upside-down Cake Martinis

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2006
I made these and found the vanilla vodka a bit strong for my taste, but with the additional of more pineapple juice and grenadine they were very refreshing. I love how they smell like the cake. It is a really good idea, thank you.

Candy Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2006
I made 2 pounds of these on Thursday, they were gone on Sunday with only 2 people eating them. Very good, but I am not going to make them again until Xmas because they are so addictive. I added the vanilla paste from Trader Joes and we could really taste the vanilla flavor. Thank you for this one.

Easy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
This was perfect. Perhaps others are using the wrong kind of rice? I use 1/3 cup of short grain rice and 1/2 cup sugar, add the raisins after I remove it from the oven. It turns out thick like custard, I usually have to bake this for 2.5 hours. Similar recipe in the Calif. Culinary book says to bake for 3 hours. Wonderful, thank you.

Angel Biscuits II

Reviewed: May 3, 2005
Really good, but I cut the recipe in half because it makes so many biscuits. I served these with chicken, but I think they would be great with any dish.

Strawberry Soup I

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2005
Served this at a family brunch, everyone loved it. I added more cardamon because I like the flavor. I will be making this for years to come. I don't even want to try a different recipe for strawberry soup. This was perfect.

Sausage Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2005
Very good. I used maple sausage, but next time I will use a combination of hot and mild Italian sausage for more flavor. Everyone enjoyed this. I had no problem with the flour mixture, I used more butter and mixed the flour into the butter in 1/4 cup incriments.

Butter Snow Flakes

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2005
For a cookie press cookie which cannot be gooey, chewy or filled with chocolate and nuts it is the best. They are small, crisp and flavorful. The only caution is that they are highly addictive. I could eat these everyday and never get tired of them. The flavor combination is outstanding. Thank you.
